Preparatory steps for new content

We've had a taste of the new content, the new islands, the new enemies as well as our new units+combat system.

(although most buildings are unclickable, and dont show much information).

We are 1 month before the big release, and i am wondering what steps should a mature lvl50 player take, to start preparing for the new content.

For example, it seems that the huge bronze sword chain is not needed anymore, that much. Just a thought.

Start investing and building on what?

Is there something we should do to have a small advantage when the time comes? Apart from stacking endless stacks of swords/beer etc?

From what i can see you'll need a good coal chain... platinum smelters and weaponsmiths will need a lot of it, Also brew because all new troops need as much as cannons to make, and maybe a second powderhut... and probably not much else to start.... save granite... and salt.

Steps:

• If possible, stockpile some magic beans, maybe even convert them into stalks - you will likely want to buy the 2nd MG and will want to start on the Archipelago (each sector costs 8500 stalks to open on test). Upgrade costs for Fairy Castle to lvl 6 are horrible (20k titanium bars, 10k grout) so there is little reason to wait before converting.

  Note: You can choose to use gems to start on the Archipelago instead. You will still want some stalk based deeds though

• Stockpile some high experience adventures that you enjoy.
• Stockpile bronze swords - you will Always need bronze swords, even after you reach level 56 and play new adventures. Maybe stockpile brew and baked settlers too - basically anything that helps running current adventures fast.
• Have a pre-think about where the new buildings are going on your island - you will want to be buffing most if not all of them (though Mortar and Arquebus chains maybe not ran full time)

  With new farms (x3 speed) on the way, maybe also think about demolishing some excess buildings to adjust economy

The first part of the new stuff is really just the headlong charge to level 56 and that will just be done with old troops on old adventures

All information obviously just reflects test server and may not exactly reflect what we receive on live. As such, maybe hold off on anything you are unsure of (personally I am not converting beans to stalks yet and am not yet demolishing/moving buildings - all that can be done after live)

There is a slim chance that I might compose a guide covering most of the new stuff... time permitting

+1 but I would like to add, Pick a decent xp adventure to start day 1 with, get yourself to the last boss and wait for the lvl cap to be lifted, something like a SLT would do nice. Also map frags, eventually we are all gonna run out of SA/NORDS have step 2 taken care of. Star coins are another thing to collect.

Yeah that would be ok, but its a matter of saving maybe 1 day of adventuring, (waiting to end the adventure after the level cap rise).

I am talking about big changes here, like for example, building 2nd tit smelter (if needed)
or strenghening horses production (if needed) etc.

stockpile star coins, brew, bread (settlers), bs, coal.
have enough beanstalk to buy major, licenses and sector deed
have a lot skunk, mr. myers.

prepare population limit for new units. in worst case will use noble without licence

make plan for grout in next 4 month will be 2 events. don't need upgrade all buildings to lvl 6 immediately.
make plan for adventures which will play. I will play BK so i need a lot mf, will play some SA not many, so i don't need special prepare for that.
it's possible buy 2 friary and 6 new farm for brew productions (we will need a lot brew for new units). i will not destroy any my farm and build new, only if buy more than 6. will try also buy improved silos for new farm. still i don't know what will do with water.

my plan for coal is buff coking plant, recycling and coal mine, if that not enough i will start buffing my cutters and will use epic woodyard for coal and will buff epic woodyard. (epic woodyard with x2 buff can make 80% coal what we need for all new buildings)

new buildings and this extra brew production will go on archipelago, also pop buildings for new units will go on new space.
Also i will increase my sausages productions (that also will go on archipelago). we will need more sausages because of new adventure search

will try on event buy many storehouse. my plan is use only improved storehouse on archipelago (you need only one new storehouse for archipelago)

I will not upgrade my barracks to lvl 6

From that you should be able to deduce that you will be focusing on, in order of cheapiness:
Knights - though cheapest, you will likely use/lose more Swordsmen in battles
Swordsmen
Mounted Swordsmen
With possibly Marksmen as a similar cost to Mounted Swordsmen depending on your economy balance and whether you want to produce Arquebuses 24/7 or just as needed.
The other troops will likely be a standing army, basically train 200/250/270 and then let the weapon production pause until needed again.

In my opinion therefore:
One powderhut should be plenty (after you make 270 Mortar it is mainly only turned on to make Arquebus, do Scenarios, upgrade things maybe)
One stable should be plenty - only need one horse per 12 mins to supply Elite Stable
Titanium? ... I cannot see where this might be needed, except lvl 6 upgrade of FairyCastle
Coal... enough to support your choice of platinum chain

Obviously you will want a fair amount of granite too...
You should loot a fair pile doing enough adventures to climb the experience ladder though. Choose swap-able lootspot style adventures if you run low.

Perspective:
For one of each of the new buildings you are looking at near 30k granite, just for level one.
Add in two extra Plat Smelters and a second Plat Swordmaker and you are looking at 45k granite, just for level one.

The undecided parts:
Mahogany Sawmill - you will want a fair stack of planks for upgrading things... then, once upgraded, you will need hardly any (if Mortars are paused). I figured to just built one and not upgrade it very far at start. Remember too that you can get planks from archipelago loot.
Exotic Wood Cutter/Forester - hardly worth the effort in my opinion. Decide based upon your stock levels. I think maybe just a level 1 as those are cheap.

Mahogany sawmill will be lvl 52, new elite troops will be lvl 54-57, exotic wood forester and cutter at lvl 53 and 54.
I am doing absolutely no preparation at all.
I will be doing fairytale adv's once the new lvls start so i can get the xp to get through the first lvls, and on the way getting beans to get those new islands, which on their own will be useless till i have the elite troops to defeat them and the buildings to use on them.
It is all going to be very, very slow, no matter how much you 'prepare' now, there will be very little to actually do when the new stuff hits, except maybe get some buildings that you already have to lvl 6. Probably going to take me nearly a year to get to lvl 54 as it is.

Yeah it seems there is no special preparation as far as island economy to be made.

The only advice = pile up more resources, more weapons, more granite, more beans.

This is nothing new, pretty much was already known...

It's gonna take ages to reach new levels.

You think it worths to throw simple horsemen to new camps, or wait once and for good to start with new army?

Slacker :p 54 (at a hard graft headlong rush) is about a week, 56 another week beyond that.

Advice note:

Save some premium time for the Halloween Event if you can. It is likely that many players will be doing lots of adventures then, which counts toward the xp needed.

we don't know your amount of buildings, your number of licenses, did you have free space and million other things. for every player will be different.

i think even one stable we don't need, a lot horses we get in loot. 700 horse per day we need for one elite stable on level 6. some players don't like make production on that way, but for me that is ok,

this is my calculation how many coal we need to make one unit (be aware maybe i made mistake). calculated with x2 buff every buildings in production line
recruit 12,5 coal per one (90 000 coal for 7200R per day with x3 buff on barrack)
milita 70 coal per one
soldier 130 coal per one
elite soldier 320 coal per one

swordsman 63 coal per one (81 900 coal for 1300 swordsman per day with x3 buff on barrack)
mounted swordsman 71 coal per one (69 225 coal for 975 mounted swordsman per day with x3 buff on barrack)
knight 7,75 coal per one

coal use is not that high as some players think

Like a lot of things about this game what is needed is not writ in stone and is best defined by each individual player. In my case I have the following check list.

Storage 400k
Population 25k
Building levels Minimum of level 5 with the exception of 1 level 3 wheelmaker.
As many explorers as the game will allow you, a minimum of 16 jolly geo's, obvioulsy until the new stuff goes live it's at best a educated guess as to what would be a minumum collection of generals.

OK, i found smth that needs change of strategy.

New 48h buff, needs 500 raw meat for 1 buff.
Old 24h buff needs 150fish/100bread/50 sausage for 1 buff. (double that for 48h, i.e. 300fish/200bread/100 sausage)
You could almost say, that raw meat demant stays the same, maybe somewhat more, and you get much lower bread and fish demands.

You could almost tear down butchers.

New 48h buff needs 15minutes per unit, old 24h buff, needed 5minutes per unit (unbuffed)

maybe provision house will not be able to keep up with production needs...

(4b/hour = 100 per day = 200 buildings buffed per 48h)

fish will be 100k/1c

Yes he does, fishes main use within the high end game were the feasts, remove the need for feasts and where left with? meat top ups? I am going to need around 23 deerstalkers to make this happen (total, not 23more). Thats assuming I pause/demolish all the butchers. I will probably pause them, seeing as no telling what buffs may arrive next year. I like the 48hour buff, But i am not keen on the way it destroys the need for my butchers and fish buildings.

It would be really nice to get a week or two (or forever) of free-building-movement when this new stuff comes out.

I freely admit that my island economy is not very well balanced, there are a large number of buildings that stay perma-snooze zZzZzz.

With maybe 15 (ballpark) new buildings to cover new army, it would be very nice to finally knock some surplus old buildings down and shuffle others around.
I think quite a few people would like all their new buildings in little groups (maybe where current fishers or farms are sitting) yet, without paying movement fees, that basically only leaves archipelago.

One area I really would like to get balanced is farms as wheat use has been steered by recent changes:
Lots of Schools = less need for baked settlers
More settlers in many loots, most now guaranteed drops = less baking
Different buffs = 100 bread per 24hr rather than 60 per 6hr
Probably less horses needed as many use MMA where horses were lost and new stables uses only a few
++ More brew needed
== Less farms than I currently have... even less when some are swapped to the Halloween farms

Plenty of stuff to demolish
Plenty of stuff to move around to make groups
Plenty of cost involved when some of those are high level buildings at level 5+

Anyway, regarding this thread... all that can wait until after new stuff settles the trade economy... just got to find room for those new buildings and maybe some more population.

My planning is fairly simple :-

1. accumulate enough stalks to buy MG, at least one set of sector deeds
2. Make as many bread soldiers as humanly possible.
3. Make 10 days worth of Mayors house buffs (skunks and masters toolkit)
4. buy 300 BK adventures and have a strategy to do them fast (you don't want to be at PC all day)
5. buy arrows, catapults and assasin on cooldown.
6. Accumulate as much granite and exotic wood planks as possible.
7. Take some time to catch up on real life.
8. Have a big adventure rtf and all the troops rebuilt, probably CLT or HLT.

Regarding Island economy not touched anything as such except to add stables x5, IF the Grilled steak is 50 meat to build then 10 fishfarms go back top star menu to free up space for free buildings from events in future. Will buy Improved farms and Improved silo over time for new Islands I presume they will be in merchant after Halloween. Don't really need any more population buildings unless they happen to drop or come from events.

The economy is hard to judge but I don't think much will decrease in value except fish, traditional weapons will still be needed as the rebuilding times on AN adventures is pretty long. I think I might pre-convert enough for MG initially (as it does seem likely that BB will keep some costs using stalks)
You will get the first Sector Deed from a quest line though, so only need buy first once first sector is cleared of bandits

Sitting on about 200k in star here, so should be fine.
Check the loot on your chosen adventure to balance... using SA here, costing 400 troops ish and rewards just 50 (75prem) in loot, so 350 per run * 170 runs = 60k or so settlers.
Also remember that lootspotting will gain you quite a lot.

Definitely stock up on your preferred adventures yes... just in case BB nerf the merchant with changed content.
A few map frags will also help if things go awry.

Definitely... even delay upgrading current buildings to save some (granite) for building new stuff... should get lots in loot while leveling though (if BB do not again nerf loot)

The idea of getting free building movement is deeply flawed. As Corona points out you cant do it until you have cleared enough to make it worth while, this shows the first problem with the idea namely how are BB going to know you have reached the point where you are ready to change your island layout. If they set a date then you are constrained by the fact every thing your doing in game before that date is aimed at achieving the goal of being ready for the move on that date. Sorry but one of the strenghts of this game is you can play at at your own pace.

Next we have the problem of players who are not currently level 50, when would they get the free move. Sorry but the idea of a free move is [ a bad one ]

Something like this, a specific date set in the future and advertised beforehand, would likely be best.
That way players can plan ahead, safely build any new stuff they access without the worry of putting it in the right place immediately.

Mostly though, I saw this mainly as a facility to allow players to shuffle old buildings around to suit their Island-Feng-Shui nicely. Much like many players did when the new PvP stuff appeared, it wasn't so much about moving the new academy and armoury around, it was about clearing space so players could put those new buildings near their barracks if they so desired.

I am still hopeful that BB do add this bonus feature again, especially with so many new buildings soon accessible.

free movement is nice, but not needed imo
be creative, see it as a challenge

It's not that simple. There already was a one free movement time frame but already back then there were already people who could not do much because the island was already so full. I think coronas example of personal activation of the free time would be perfect but based on history, too hard task for BB so later date for everyone would be good so it would allow active people to get time to clear some space and then reorder the main island with help of the other space. There is no need to cater everyone but the majority of the people have the problem, that is long time level 50 players. Fresh level 50 have less of the problem space and moving.

I think the discussion over free movement is meaningless.

PS. My island is also half asleep, because when free movement etc was here, i invested too much in bread production, but with new 24h buffs, and new loot, bread + settlers became abudant. so no need to buff all the time (plus the fact that after 4years playing im a bit tired...)

I was thinking much the same, it would be nice to get that bonus again, just this thread is not the place to discuss it.

Just been doing calculations here about bread and figured I only need 4 bakers (not baked a settler in over a year and star menu is chock of them, so only calced for feasts and baskets (undecided about paying gems for new buff recipe)).
From that, it then steered 7 mills and, to cover 2 friary/1 stable/towers etc, 34 normal farms
Did have 8 bakers, 16 mills, 45 farms and silos...
... now got quite a bit of free building spaces and 50 licences spare (had 30 earlier, not demolished all yet)

Especially if you are a player that buys a lot of LS, settlers are ... endless.
My bread production was too big! (13 mills - 13 bakers, all lvl6, always buffed).
But i couldnot have known before.

I believe now bread needs will drop even more.
But who knows...

Players asking for something and BB giving us something do not always equate to being the same thing, in the former we get to feel the measure of the playerbase's thoughts on the thing. Prior to us getting it I had not thought it was something BB would grant us so saw no need to argue against it. You may also recall that last time we had a concurrent "Special bonus week" with certain buildings having a bonus making it difficult for players to judge where some buildings needed to be placed for best long term effect.

Step one- feel enthusiastic about playing the game again, step two-have fun. that is all for me :) So glad i won`t quit the game, new content is coming right on time.

If BB decides do something like that, then do it not time based. Like premium time, just for free moving, all get 1 in mail, like 3 days free moving and use when he like. Then all players will be happy :D

Quite a good idea...
It would also be a nice addition to the star coin or even gem shop... a 1 day token that allows free building movement could be an initial gift from our BB friends then a purchasable item in the merchant perhaps.

You want free moving to save resources you don't want more of?

Who doesn't want more coins?
To move a level 5 barracks is 1000gc... many people will likely want all their Barracks together.
To move EW Sawmills is 2500gc... people might want them near the Mahogany Sawmill and maybe EW Cutter/Forester if they build them.
To move high level Elite weapons chain (powderhut etc) is 3500gc per move.

Though people might well not move those exact buildings, many will be looking at moving some similar ones to group certain buildings together. Maybe they will like their powderhut near their Arquebus Maker, to make buffing easier, maybe they will want their stable(s) near their Elite Stables chain.
Not everyone is going to just build all the new buildings on the Archipelago.

Hence, to accommodate all these aesthetic moves in light of the information about new buildings, it would be nice if we did get some free movement.

Given such factors as the inflation that SmurfAsH mentions; the fact that the move building option is one of the few means by which gold coins are removed from the game entirely; the existence of gold towers, one of which was gifted to players of all levels during a past event; the high availability of x3 and x4 buffs that can be used to great effect on gold chains; the lag that was inherent for a good number of players during the last period of free movement; and the issues surrounding locked zones caused by buildings being moved too frequently that made a cool down timer temporarily necessary in the past, I believe the idea of another free movement period is ill-considered.

Well, that's ultimately what this game is about - maintain your island - so how about focus on playing the game instead of asking for "I win"-buttons?

Stable servers > promotion weeks
