I haven't even got the 18 snippets to do my 1st yet, lol, too much junk coming out instead of the snippets. But if u done it 8 times with no recipe then something's wrong there. Most ppl who have played it have got it on their 1st try!

Have done a few and only got 50 gems in the reward so far. If it is there - then the chance of getting it is very very very small.

I had to abandon the long letter search for snippets, after 4 lots of 20 red logs in a row that was enough for me, At least in the book search you get 20 starcoins most times. Excelsior has been designed to make players spend gems if they want to get anywhere on it.
And for the guy who's played 17 in a row, I take it the recipe is not a 50/50 drop, lol.

Success after completing one quest (A Threat?!) :D
...and a week long wait of the reward box sitting in star because I thought it was an adventure box, lol
50 gems from my first try (compass).
When I see that people have tried 17 times without success then I count myself very lucky for getting the recipee first time :)
got it from 3th attempt,(settlers and bandits)
finally got it on my 20th attempt
3rd for me compass, settlers and then got it on my 2nd compass
5 tries so far and still trying
10 tries no manuscript lol ... hades8840 you give me hope :)
1st attempt manuscript, 3rd the tome
Yesterday I finished my 15th attempt. No manuscript. Losing my hope.
2 tries. 2x 50 gems... NO RECIPES!
Now, I am stack with 3 quests in star menu requiring me to start doing ali adventures to even try my luck once more. All while I can build on my level only the grrr... platinum swords! Outraging. Those ali requests should be from lv56, when all elite troops are unlocked imho.
Also 6 months searching for extra iron deposit with no hit with "lucky find". Gem sector buyer curse I guess, but it still belongs to "unlucky" business category. For 1 long year I have been cracking bn to get some returns and never got any, then I complain about that and like same week finally I get in loot the return to bandit nest... My luck in this game sucks or for some reason Random Number Generator is angry on me.
I got it at some stage during my first attempt to complete long letters. I now have an over abundance of manuscripts when most of yt explorers are fully skilled & don't have much need for them. Wish they could be traded

I'm currently at attempt 5. I'm not too bothered because the quests (well, 2 of the 3) give good xp.
21 tries and still no recipe... I have to say it starts getting frustrating, especially when I hear that so many got it after just one or two attempts. Would be nice if that was a bit more evenly distributed. I don't mind having random drops with stuff like buildings, decoration or follow-ups, but when it comes to things that are important for the game (especially with the general skill tree coming...) such a random drop rate is....well I'm not allowed to swear here lol
Managed to get all 3 book recipes - Manuscript on 5th attempt - I use the most in RPH, codex & tomes made in bookbinder - with buff can produce a codex per day (with manuscripts & tomes) :)

Got codex recipe from 2nd attempt, the tome from first snow white, so i have all of them now.
I have done 3 long letters ventures (Lost Compass) and got gems each time.
1st try got it :) super happy
11 attempts at the manuscript recipe so far,also done Snow White and The Lost City,not a sausage:)

7 attempts = 7 lots of 50 gems......
30 something plus, long letters and still no sight of the manuscript recipe, BLAARGH!!! Slightly annoying if I may say so which I ofc do *sigh*
Do you need the Rarity Provision House to qualify for the chance to be better than 0% and can you get the recipe more than once?
