I think it's the latest update, if your workyards have nothing to do (because your stores are full, for example) they now have the exclamation mark. Really annoying, my island's covered in them too...
Thank you thats probably it,and yes very annoying.
I like the idea to know which is full, but some buildings need to be ignored, like schools
But Yes, Red is so bad, red usually means to give attention, not like an info! If you change it to something more friendly well be better for sure.
Just sell some of the items from those production chains to an inactive guild mate (or friend you know wont take the deal) and store the excess in your mail once the trade is declined...I usually accept the declined trade once my stores are full again so that the goods are moved into the star menu as it gets a bit messy having loads of emails to sort through...
No more exclamation marks and previously idle production chains can start up again, win win...
does the title look dumb with all those ! marks? well, so does my island with maxed out prod buildings.
Please remove this, its a horrible idea or make it removable like animation options. I'm sure i'm not the only 1 that has a lot of maxed prod!
Merged
lol yes u probably are as your so mean :) x
Yes, horrendous to look at for sure! Really not a fan... I like to have a serene landscape, with only necessary stuff sleeping as even that disturbs my calm a little. Besides, that graphic already indicates a lack of resource for a workyard which is more important to know I think.
Seriously, who thought this change was a good idea?
I hate all those exclamation marks, can we please get rid of them as soon as possible?
the sooner this is gone the better. it adds nothing but aggravation! (and I felt a bit guilty putting one exclamation mark on that lol)
would be nice if that donate button in storehouses, was changed to send to starmenu :) for all the tightwads (me include) who dont wanna give away or sell their resources and just like to horde millions :)
I like the idea but I wish it was a different symbol that did not move. To confusing with the
other symbol that says you are missing an item needed to continue production.
I agree. A total mess.. My map is awash with ugly red exclamation marks... I KNOW what's full, I'm paying attention... Please get rid of this asap or at least make it optional in Settings...
(Tried really hard to not use any exclamation marks in this post... There... Made it!... D'oh!)
This sort of thing sows the seeds of it's own defeat, it's only a matter of time until it fails to serve the purpose it was intended for. The only sensible option it to remove it and never ever entertain thoughts of implementing any thing for the same purpose in game again.
Have to wonder who thought this up, serves no purpose other than to annoy.
I echo other comments - I HATE all those horrible red !!!!!!! all over my island. I can see in my warehouse which items are full, I like them full. I only want to see red !!!! when my production has a problem, like a shortage of a needed material!
Please remove those disgusting symbols without delay, or I will likely remove myself from the game....... permanently!
The exclamation mark comes with a barrel icon, so I guess it represents "store full" - so that explains where they come from.
The bouncing is irritating, and with red color, it's even more so.
Suggestion:
Make it a static icon, turn the red exclamation mark to gray - and it's all fine.
I already wrote in change log tread but I agree 100 %. I dont want any red bouncing ! om my island because I have too much. Some might think it is ok to be told but want other color. I just want them removed: I can see in Economy overview when I have too much of something, it is not that urgent to be told. I prefer a nice clean calm island.
Why make new features that really is not needed, and are just very annoying??
Fix some of the broken stuff instead. Like barracks and that annoying button that at least once a day take me to pvp ranking, when I click it by mistake.
I like knowing when a production change is at max storage, I think it is a nice addition
This new thing is awesome, a lot including me love it and was waiting for it too long, but the annoying red mark is just annoying, make it green or just remove the mark, circle icon with barrels is enough
It seems to me that if anyone has too many alerts then things aren't managed very well. Increase storage, trade, shut down production, increase utilization, etc. If my buildings are wasting time then I will think I need to reconsider my economic balance. It's clear to me that many people had no idea how poorly their kingdom is utilized.
After reading more comments and some additional thoughts I can see how some people like to have on-demand capacity without having to manipulate buildings or storage and after all it's all about playing the way you want. So I think it's clear an option each player can control would be the best way to go.
One of the beauties of this game is the so many different ways, and paces, one can play the game, and usually, there's no one telling you how you should or shouldn't play it... after all, it is only a game... Although most seem to be against these !'s, there are a few for it, as it clearly is beneficial to their particular style of play, so I hope BB take on board people's concerns and either tone them down a bit, (red for a building unable to produce due to a lack of resources is fair enough and, in game terms, could be considered an emergency, but a full storehouse is seen by many as cause for celebration rather than impending doom beyond measure!), or make them optional... Or both...
I'd rather have an "end of buff" alert personally. I think this would be much more useful... :-)
can we have an option to turn them off. i know that my storage is full on certain items, its how i play. i logged in and thought id ran out of everything!!!!!!
It does bury the unnecessary bouncing Big Red ! on Improved Silos... in a bunch of unnecessary bouncing Big Red !.
While some sort of "full up" marker has been long requested, how this made it through testing is a bit of a puzzler.
Can we get a option to turn them of? I cant see with buildings need attention any more. To many !'s
great lets have more of those looks very nice indeed
An option to disable the exclamation marks could solve the problem; like we disable many other options (smoke, animals, walking settlers)
Having the icon on the building to let us know there are resources ready to be delivered to the store but storage is full is a nice idea, but the red exclamation mark should be reserved for buildings that lack resources. Just remove the exclamation mark but leave the little (picture) icon.
can't believe how many people like to have inefficient economies
you people who dont like maxed stocks and feel your so rich and a gifted trader because you don't run maxed stocks. Feel free to hand me 6 improved silos, a few improved fishermens, butchers and deerstalkers before you come try teach me anything about economy that is awful and require an enourmous amount of micromanaging for hardly any profit at all. whatever makes people think i bother selling basic goods for pennies only to work the next X weeks to reproduce it with the toll on more advanced buildings which wood chains feed.
BB prove their incompatibility with releasing this nonsense in a severely damaged game where everyone already suffer from heavy lag much due to nonsense implementations like this completely unnessesary exclamation mark. Meanwhile we wait ages for real fixes. Like the much needed Excelsior attention where loot wont go to storage, adventuress where settlerscant be excluded from being sent to storage forcing all the loot into star for every friggin adventure. i can't believe they havent fixed anything yet, it's been obvious for a very long time that quest log and achievements interfer heavily with the game and is a culprit to large chunks of game problems.
I could go on, but when respect for sanity is at historical low. You would have to pay me first or await next time I decide to shed some light in this dark world.
Yes that's why I only need to do adventures for XP and cba hazzling with basic resources that will only end up halting my advanced resources. I don't need your opportunity to waste more time than I already do. You couldnt be more wrong despite we both apparently have been playing settlers for 20 years and its the nr 1 strategy game, not the capitalistic micromanaging lagfest its become.
Can we please stay on topic. This thread was opened to discuss the latest addition of the markers on buildings, not a discussion about economics and micromanagement.
I think it's fair to say that, regardless of how one plays, the markers are resoundingly unpopular. The 'economy overview' button already overs this info anyway, so why spoil the aesthetics...
I agree - the markers are horrible. I wouldn't mind the barrels showing up, if they were still, but bouncing red exclamations and barrels is just all too much.
The thing is that we couldn't really test this on the Test Server because the capacity there was so great that it was impossible
to max out and have your island covered in exclamation marks. Had we done so they may have been more protest.
since the update this week the village school has had a red exclamation mark with what looks like barrels in it
can anyone explain this please
I like the idea per se as it beats having to check your store menu continuously (for those of us that don't a gazillion store space). Just maybe change the design to something a little less invasive?
Furthermore, it looks just like the red ! when another production is blocked by lack of a certain resources. I know there's a different icon near is but those are hardly visible when you are zoomed out. I actually only noticed the icons recently and I've been playing for more than 2 years! :D
