Please remove the feature of deleting items from star!

Or at least make an option to regret a delete after it is done..

I think it was some neat freak player who wanted this feature and it was back in the days where each adventure and soldier stature filled a space in star. Now that stuff can be stacked and you can search the star I dont really see the big need to delete stuff.

I cant remember all I have deleted by mistake but on my list is 15 rec guides , 2000 irmas, 200 tomby adventures.
I am not good at seeing red colour in the game because of the lack of contrast, so often click the delete mark by mistake. As there is often a confirm function to use stuff - my brain gets a bit blind to that and just click confirm.

I know I am not the only one who have deleted stuff by mistake - so please change this.

i cant read the red in trades on things cant afford so know what you mean by the red but im sure as you said their is a confirm box on do you want to delete such and such a item so just dont confirm it

i have also deleted stuff by mistake but that was before they added the new confirm box as never used to have that but the warning box should be a clue as to what your gonna do

but do agree the red on the dark background isnt good for some of us and a pain to read or make out

Or maybe add an undo function for 24 hours for those that have realised making a mistake by deleting?

There is a confirm dialog. I think that's enough. Better than the spending of some gems even.
I like being able to remove items from my star menu.

Yes there is a confirm dialogue - but so is there many other places in the game, and on computer. I get blind to it, my fingers does respond by clicking ok button, more or less my auto pilot. I have seen others do too asking if there is any way to get their items back. Cant see why it is so important to delete stuff.

It could be used by adding a place in settings, where you check if you want to be able to delete stuff or not.

Maybe they could have a sort of temporary bin where these things go and if you want them back you can restore them from there?

Rather than a tiny cross in the corner, there should be a right click context menu with options for all kinds of useful stuff.

Whilst at it sort out the nonsense caused by the new mail system.

I often hear the discussion at my work about warning screens becoming automatically ignored because people become blind to them. And it's a fair point. But without any confirmation screens, there would be global disasters (oops- there went my level 6 platinum weaponsmith).

Checking the delete function on my fish platters, there is a confirm window but the default amount is all of them. Perhaps a compromise would be making the default 1? In that way the chances for a real bad oversight are minimized because on any sizable number of buffs you would have to drag the slider or change the number proactively before deleting.

There are very nice and constructive ideas here that I find very interesting myself, because as some said, confirmation boxes become irrelevant to lots of us, and then there is always the lag and/or mini-freezes problems which can lead to awful misclicks. Having to chose a quantity to destroy, right-click context menu preceding confirmation, and specially temporary bin of course, the nicest IMHO, are ideas that deserve to be investigated, I support that.

And aside, those ideas are way more constructive and helpful than "the system is like that, deal with it" which is unnecessarly condescending (unrespectful even) to say the least : because you dont see a problem with something, doesnt mean there is no improvement possible for many, many others.

There are loads of differences between the 'apply stuff to Mayor's House' and the 'delete from star menu' interface.
If stuff is important you should read it, becoming blind to it is no excuse. You don't become blind to confirming warnings when you are using real money.
When in doubt, ALWAYS push the red cancel button. It will undo your last action (like clicking on the small cross). It also has a different shape, so the colour is no problem.

PS.
BB, please give us the option to delete every buff (or everything). I would love to get rid of the sandman and retro buffs (and my marshals).

You dont seem to get that I cant see the red cross without really making an effort, what shape it has, does not really matter when it is red. - I cant read the read text very well either -
So you are telling me that I should not click on the x formed shape I cant see and not to confirm something when I cant read the text :-D
I see a huge lot of similar boxes nearly every time I activate something in the computer - so sometimes my fingers just click ok. And is the need to remove a 1x1 square from you star so great? I can understand it when it was a 1*1 square for each horseman statue - but now they are stacked.

See this is an exelent suggestion :)- Very hard for anyone to right click by mistake.

I agree with Budgy. The deletion window clearly differs from the other confirm dialogs as there is a huge bomb icon and 2-3 lines of red text. On top of that it ask how many to delete. The zone buff window is a simple confirmation. Apply to mayors and refills ask where to place first. Even if you would not be able to read a single word or a character the bomb icon and red text should ring some bells on a missed click.

If you have issues with eye sight then get new glasses, use a browser zoom of 125-200% with CTRL+wheel or use the accessibility options provided by the operating system, eg. enable color filters or have a magnifying glass follow your cursor. There is no excuse to not to do so.

Or maybe you could try being supportive and constructive, instead of being as condescending as you are right now, and allow others to voice their opinion about problems THEY encounter. You sound quite uneducated about daltonism. Could you stop trying to discard a problem just because YOU dont encounter it? Asking BB to offer alternatives to the current item deletion system is not in any way necessarly going to make the game "less user friendly", you are taking huge shortcuts to try and shut a discussion that you simply have no interest in, other than for the pleasure of criticizing people "because they are not paying attention". Not very grown up of you.

And what did I write in the second paragraph? I gave several suggestions how to overcome the issue because it's not limited to this game from his side. I know this because this not the first time I talk with Urd123 as he is on the same server. He has also a tendency to complain about a lot of small things in the game like removing the volcano from the game, declaring scout post useless, etc. which can be seen from his post history.

dunno if im colorblind or smth but i dont see the cross as red at all. looks brown or orange or amber to me.

I suggest changing the default amount to remove from star from max to 1. This way you would usually have to make a lot of mistakes until all items gone and serious damage achieved. :)

I am aware that issues of disability can invoke some strong feelings in certain people. However, without pointing fingers at anyone in particular, I feel it necessary to request that we all try and show a little more respect for those with differing opinions to our own.

Well sorry to say so - but I cant get new eyes, and glasses will not fix my problem. I have a chronic eye-disease. The colour blind cant get glasses to fix their problem. I cant make myself perfect. In my eyes a game should be designed so that it is user-friendly also to people with non perfect eyesight.

As I see it you can make a solution that makes everyone happy, or you can weight what is most important - that you get a neat and tidy star, with only what you really really need there at the moment, or prevent people make a mistake and delete 2000 irmas- or all thier rec guides. I dont find it very user friendly that when I try to put a rec guide on my friends island- I hit the to me invisible cross by mistake - and think I confirm the use of the buff - and see all buff gone from star. I know from people asking in help that I am not the only one that have made this kind of mistake: I am sure support have had request to retrieve stuff deleted by mistake.

I don't get why you have to attack me, just because you disagree with something else I wrote on forum on anther topic. I will not say my honest opinion about what that makes me think - it would not be appropriate. I know from help tab that I am not the only one that have made this mistake. Where I come from we can discuss a topic and disagree, and still be friends and sometimes because of the discussion find a way to agree. What is the whole point of having a forum and putting different views if you can only accept those that agree with you?

I know, we have talked about this a couple of times in game and you just did not want try the suggested or never replied about the results. I have a few color blind friends and plenty or friend and family with different eye disabilities which is why gave multiple suggestions how to not only how to improve your TSO experience but other usability as well.

You should be more constructive when you want things changed and not be negative about everything. Just look at the thread title you once again chose with a similar provocative title as seen before, eg. with the Volcano and Epic forge. Neither start as improving but more like removing and destroying. Just read them again:

"Please-remove-the-feature-of-deleting-items-from-star!?"
"Let us bomb the vulcano and make more room"

Then remember all the things you have wanted to removed from the game in the game chat or in dev diary feedback threads.

Which part you see as an attack? My first paragraph was a comparison why I think there is no need for more changes needed in regards of deletion. We still can't remove everything from the menu but have to use trade and other means to get rid of stuff. In the second one I clearly gave suggestions how to reduce the risk immediately in terms readability. There is no solution for fast clicking of dialogs other than adding more and more confirmation boxes which just reduce the overall experience for majority of the players.

You can also leave me feedback with the forum messages or in game chat or mail if you don't want to post it up here.

There is a solution to fast clicking, don't do it.

I just checked that "delete" dialogue, and there actually is a perfectly visible white text "Delete item" when hovering mouse on that cross, then there is another perfectly visible white text "Remove from star menu?" in that dialogue window itself. I can't read red text either, so I read the white one. :) And yes, simple solution would be to have preselected value for this function "zero" instead of "maximum" I think preselect maximum for delete function was a bit dumb idea in the first place anyway. Similar lack of thoughtfulness as delete everything from mail menu without any warning of the change where number of players lost all their info mails.

I'm aware of two issues and I think they should be kept separate.
1) Should all star menu items in the buff tab be able to be deleted or not and if so, what should the mechanism be?
2) Are there issues with some of the color patterns and contrasts in some places that make some screens difficult for some people?

I think it's a bad idea to try to make both conversations active at the same time. The thread was about removing the ability to delete buffs from the star menu. I responded to that point (make the default in the confirm window 1 instead of the maximum). For the other subject, I would suggest a new thread if someone wants to open one.

Actually both are discussed together right from the get go. The reason OP asks for the function to be removed is because he can't see very well what he's doing due to funny colour patterns.

True, but if we want to include all that then we have a thread that is about deleting buffs from the star menu, visibility issues and then also too many confirmation screens in the wrong place. It's going to get hard to follow. I was hoping to focus on one point alone but I've said my bit so anything else would be redundant.

It's such a shame that right-clicking in Flash isn't available because it's used by Flash for its own settings etc...
