Can we take a break from the game during the bridge time and still be moved to to Unity when it is available?
So if porting the game to Unity started some time ago why did the last update (less than 2 months ago) not mention the technology been used?
Thank you for the update. Unity is a major redevelopment, but should be worth it in the end.
A quick question about the interim. For those of us who have managed to find a browser that is not dropping flash, will we still be able to continue playing as we do now- same URL, same unified login, etc ?
Do you mean that client that doesn't work, unless you de-install some video programs like vlc ?
I'm not so sure if its a 'major' redevelopment tbh, but rather porting all the communication lines from current flash to unity-flash
It seems like unit itself has some flash-like backend:
https://docs.unity3d.com/462/Documen...ngstarted.html
As noted in that doc, it's still supported for unity 4.x but deprecated for later.
I really hope this is is not what the intent is (to just stick to unity 4, port in the current flash parts).
And yes, I do realize that even that porting itself will still be time consuming to do of course :)
I would assume the same or similar/modified standalone client they've offered for a while, never had issue with vlc the few times I've used that client though (fairly long time ago)
so you left it that long we will be in limbo for 3 months as a lot ppl aint going to be able to use the bridge while we wait ...to me sounds just like a carrot dangling keep us around for a further 3 months until the announcement that the unity idea didnt work out
as a player who logs into TSO via facebook login, i Hope that will still work in the new version
Will the temporary solution run on Linux or will it just be that slim browser everyone seems to hate?
really happy that the game will continue but I hope the 3 month gap doesn't extend to much further. I love playing the game on my chromebook as it works really nicely on there but if It goes to a download client it means I wont be able to use it there.
What if i access the game via steam?
Please do not forget Mac and Linux users when you create the interim downloadable client. You last client was never available for Mac
What about using Flashpoint from BlueMaxima ?
When downloadable flash client doesn't work asking to download flash repeatedly (current one does that for me) do we have a mandatory (at least) 3 month break from game?
It will still be flashed based.
Why the first 3 months of 2021? End of flash was announced in 2017!
Oh also.
If unity is not web based, bye bye TSO.
Play where I want what I want, not going to install stuff on work based or friends computers.
I currently invariably have 4 worlds open at the same time. Newfoundland on Firefox, Sandy on Explorer, and Northisle and Zeus both on Chrome on 2 tabs.
Can you confirm if it will be possible to do this on the temporary fix download and will it be possible to do this on Unity?
In addition, Unity appears only to support 64 bit systems. No issue for me but I know many use older machines with 32 bit versions of Windows.
will the in between version run on MacOS?
because the slim browser available right now never had a Mac version for example.
so, are you guys going to alienate everyone not running windows or will you do it right this time?
I've seen a few questions about different platforms - as we said before, we're working to make the transition as smooth as possible for all players, regardless of how they connect to the game.
We will keep you updated!
Apart from the platform issue, I'm worried that even Windoze users are going to run into strife during the "interim period".
Those of us who have already had the last Windoze update will have seen the popup trying to convince us to remove all traces of Flash now, Micro$oft have already built the "doom switch" into our comps, even if you think you have a client that will run, I severely doubt Windoze will support it after 31/12.
Bet I'm the only person who's never heard of unity..... what is it ? Am I going to have to keep downloading stuff like I do with flash ?.... Hope it improves settlers....
Unity games run fine on MacOs, its the interim period that bothers me since they made zero effort to accommodate Mac players with the previous Slim Browser. I've taken all my browsers off auto update. Hopefully that will see me through while a flash version is still available.
I can only take BB_Traffer's word at face value - they make a much appreciated effort to communicate with the community, however I still remember the old days of TSO when were kept in the dark and felt unlistened to. I'm trying to feel optimistic, but I'm dealing with an eight year legacy of feeling ignored.
Will screenshot it next time it appears, put it on "remind me later" so no doubt it will be reappearing with annoying regularity.
Windoze updates have been causing Flash issues for a long time now, every time their support for Flash is updated, it's always out of sync with Adobe's until theirs is also updated, normally have to do it manually after the windoze update to solve the issues it causes.
Nope, not got any idea of wha Unity is either. If it works be cool. If not well, we were screwed anyway.
any chance android support coming?
things absolutly nessesary (imo):
# multiple explorers sent at once(maybe automated)
# stackable buffs
# move un-used gens/geos to travern
# buff-recycler (splits buffs back into resources ~90 -95 % or coins/starcoins/gems)
greetings
TSO are really missing out here - HML5 is open source and compatible with 99% of all modern browsers across all common platforms both mobile and non-mobile with no additional software to installed - works out the box. Instead TSO looks like its going down the Unknown Proprietary plugin route.
I really question the decisions being made. Unity does not sound a good move.
I gave this game up in July 2020 cos BB refused to say how they would deal with Flash. I still won't return unless I know the transfer includes everyone - i.e. myself as I stopped playing due to lack of response.
I would love it if this works, but I have to say the break from the game has been cathartic. I do wonder if this will affect more players...
I'll be back in 2021 and see how it worked - fingers crossed, and good luck
Be very careful not to install Update KB4577586 by chance
Quote from Microsoft:
KB4577586 will remove Adobe Flash from all versions of Windows 10 and Windows Server and prevent it from being installed again. Once this update is installed, it cannot be removed – the only option to get it back (should you want to for some reason) is to restore your PC to a previous backup.
While the update is not being pushed to devices currently and is currently only available via the Microsoft Catalogue, it is anticipated that it will see a wider rollout via Windows Update in early 2021 when Flash exits support.
Although Adobe Flash Player is deleted from your system by the update, it remains a built-in component in the Edge web browser, and no official word has been given as to when this will be removed.
I found this explanation in german forum :
QuaYeR has other posts and seem to know what he is talking about.
