hope they are going to expand the levels and playing area something bb failed to do
are we getting group sending of explos still ?
Well, I doubt they're going to keep the game exactly as it is now. Either they mess up the whole thing with all the bugs, or they start conceptualising a new version that will probably not work like the old one. Either way, I doubt it'll last... But let's see.
One thing I wonder about though, this is a Settlers game, a trademark held by Ubisoft (Bluebyte). Will other Settlers games migrate as well?
As someone who has played most of the earlier (disc) versions of The Settlers I was wondering the same, but the CipSoft press release says, "The Settlers brand will remain at Ubisoft."
Either way, this can only be good. We were all getting frustrated about bugs not being fixed and promises not being kept.
My concern was that Ubisoft/BB were simply going to shut the game down. They'd obviously lost interest, even removed the Mods.
I'm more than happy to let someone else have a go. Bring it on CipSoft!
P.S. I noticed there was no mention of an update for today or tomorrow, so no Easter event?
I have been playing Tibia since its early development stage (around 2002). Despite slow early progress, the game has constantly evolved, introducing new locations, spells, and gameplay mechanics. What always stood out to me was CipSoft’s approach to balancing old and new content—features that fell behind or were rarely used were not simply abandoned but instead adjusted, ensuring they had a meaningful purpose rather than just existing as remnants of the past.
As CipSoft has mentioned, Tibia started as a small passion project among friends. But what makes Tibia remarkable is how it transitioned from a simple, hardcore 2D MMORPG into a constantly evolving and deep game world. Over the years, we have seen major changes, such as:
Expanding the world – New continents, cities, and dungeons have been introduced, keeping exploration fresh.
Evolving combat and spells – More diverse spells and runes have allowed for different playstyles across vocations.
Quest & mission variety – Instead of just simple "fetch quests," complex story-driven missions like the Inquisition Quest or the Secret Library added depth and lore.
Balancing old systems – Content that became obsolete wasn’t ignored but reworked (e.g., knight healing mechanics, task systems, and even the vocation balancing updates).
Major quality-of-life improvements – From hotkeys and hunting analyzers to automated loot sorting, the game became more modern while still maintaining its nostalgic charm.
Community-driven updates – CipSoft has consistently listened to player feedback, whether through feedback forms, test servers, or community polls.
What stands out the most is how CipSoft has prevented Tibia from becoming a monotonous "to-do list." Despite being an old-school MMORPG, the game always finds ways to stay engaging—events feel dynamic, updates bring new mechanics instead of just recycled content, and there’s always room for different playstyles, whether you’re a PvE grinder, a PvP enthusiast, or a casual explorer.
With that in mind, for the first time, I feel genuinely excited. The hope that many The Settlers Online players have patiently awaited might finally become reality—if CipSoft nurtures this game as well as they have Tibia. If they bring the same passion, creativity, and long-term vision, then we may finally see TSO evolve beyond its stagnant state.
Welcome aboard, CipSoft! Looking forward to what the future holds.
Like others we felt like Ubisoft had lost focus with TSO, it was no longer cool or new. To many little issues remained in the game, too many new feature not quite tested or validated, and no real appreciation of the player base.
I welcome CipSoft as custodians of a game that has kept me entertained for over 10 years.
Please take time to understand the game, understand the issues we face, and what it means to be both a new player and an "addict".
Look at how some of us play when what we can do in the browser is simply not good enough any longer.
Don't try to tempt us with changes that don't improve playability, just focus on making what we have work and then explore what can be added to keeping life interesting.
Most importantly do what Ubisoft stopped doing - keeping the players informed in a timely manner, respond to feedback, and rebuild the community so it feels like you care.
Above all thank you - keep us here and we will continue spending money on this game for the next 10 years ;)
does anyone really cares who owns the game?
Good, looking forward to it, even tho, might take up to year for full transition and new comp. getting into code, hope they start with fixes and not new content.
Other option was shutdown, so kinda very happy for now with those news. ;)
Don't know much about the new Custodians but hoping they steer well clear of Ubisoft's policies which have basically destroyed their company, hence recent Star Wars & Assassin Creed game! Talk to the player base & understand what they want, not what you think might work!
Welcome CipSoft :)
If they take the game off the Ubisoft authentication servers that'll get rid of 90% of people's problems. So that's good. Looking at CipSoft's website at their other games, they're fully into slow burner games with steady, but low, income streams, so they know the market. I think this is a great move for the game. Ubi/PP have patetly lost interest in the game. Way too many bugs, way too little development. They had become complacent about the playing community.
If it was me in CipSoft's place, I'd work on improving the web experience. There's a reason most players use the client. I'd also develop/copy my own client and sell it, for a small fee, to provide an income. If it weren't for current world events I'd probably drop a few euros to Sirris to do it for me. A web front end that is attractive and useable is the shop window for new players. FTP via browser, cheap to play via client. I'm as mean as they come (I'm from Yorkshire originally) and I'd pay a bit of my pension for the functionality of the client. Get new players hooked on the web, keep 'em with the client. But don't preclude L80s (or above?!) from the web either.
And then I'd set about sorting out the dreadful code that must be behind the game now. Regardless of how well or poorly Ubi have looked after the codebase, it's ancient and nearly every new change breaks something. We've waited a long time for great new content. We can wait a bit longer in return for improved stability, and maybe another 20 levels as a quick boost from the new team.
And most importantly of all, learn a lesson from Ubi/BB's mistakes and keep us informed. Ask our opinions. Ask for feedback. Use the test server to actually test stuff and take note of issues.
If they're as good as current CipSoft users say they are, and they're serious about keeping this thing going, I think they can make a great job of it.
Hey folks - just want to clarify a few burning questions from this exciting announcement:
1. No progress is being lost; account status and progression are being maintained!
2. The Easter Event is still on track, and the usual details will be shared next week!
We're still collecting other questions players have and hope to have a sort of FAQ in the near future!
thanks for the update Saqui :)
10+ years and still here.
Sometimes I wonder why, with all the bugs, downtimes, bad excuses etc.
I cannot say it any better than Kistelek and others have said.
Go slow, but secure and let us give the input and we will stay for another 10+ years. ;)

Just adding some left out info....
about time no after years neglect by ubisoft they finally gave it up
I personally seen how they neglect the games now and I haven't bought a single ubisoft game in years even try and put people off their games eg assassins creed is just the same game in a different setting
I recently came back, just a few weeks ago. I hope CipSoft keeps the game attractive. But I suppose they are going to, because why else would they acquire TSO? I only can play it now and then, so the game should be attractive to irregular players too. By that I mean players who are not able to play on a daily base.
I'm watching this space, cautiously optimistic!
i hope they can fix the general disappearing bug which is CRITICAL, because we lose the generals which was bought with gem (and gem with money) https://forum.thesettlersonline.com/...y-server-crash
Welcome CIPSOFT. Below are some game enhancements that I feel would make the game more enjoyable
Levels--Increase the levels. Go to 100 first and then set an annually update of 10-25 levels.
Land--Expand the land. Add more lands to conquer to include maybe an Atlantis themed land mass. (Underwater, potential for different types of specialists)
Specialists--There are SO MANY specialists in the Star that is not being or very limited use. Allow the player to shred any specialist and get some resources for it.
Explorers--Most long term players have over 200 explorers. CLICKTY-CLICK-CLICKING on each one is a total bummer. Need a mass send option.
Daily Quest--These are just a resource mover. Not sure what can be done, but it needs a serious update. Maybe additional tasks to break up the monotony.
Pathfinder--The recruitment tasks are plain and simple bogus. Eliminate them and come up with some different ones.
PVP--Not a huge fan of it. So many errors with it. Just eliminate it.
Shady Dealings--Either fix it or eliminate it.
Been at this for over 10 years. A fun time at a pace I enjoy. Hopefully you can improve and enhance it.
Been playing on Ares since 2014
My wish/suggestions list:
1: Make a checkbox called "For Guild Only" on new trades that players make in Trade Office. When checked, the trade offer can only be seen by guild members.
-------------------
2: Make it easier to reassign troops between adventures.
For example an auto-reassign feature on generals, that auto refills generals returning from an adventure with the same troops they had when they went to the adventure.
Provided of course that there are enough troops available.
Or make it even easier. Make it possible to assign all chosen troops for all chosen generals for an adventure in one click , by giving players the option to make presets for different adventures..
Perhaps having this feature could require that players get a specific building first. Fx the Tavern that we already have, or a new building that you develop.
----------------------
3: More space on our islands?
If yes. Perhaps a new max to the existing 7 levels limit on workyards.
And maybe make a way of combining buildings using a buff that players need to get first.
Fx a level 2 and a level 7 pinewood cutter, becomes a level 9 pinewood cutter.
For other building that we currently can't level up, but instead need to have more of, fx the Ice Skating Lake.
If those buildings could be upgraded/combined, that could free up a lot of space.
To upgrade fx the Ice Skating Lake, a player would need another Ice Skating Lake.
Or make some new islands..
------------------
4: A way to mass send explorers! :)
also..
I have reached a point after years of playing where i need a way to automate some things, or at least make them easier
could we pls have a feature where we can auto repeat one (or more... potential here developers!) adventure per day
it has to be an adventure that we already completed, and at the same cost (or more) as when we did it manually
players just need to have more advs of the same kind in the star menu and enough troops and generals and what not available, as when it was done first (the preset made from a completed adventure)
lovely new beginnings if they could keep the servers online.Dutch woestewoud and website already offline from satherday evening. So no event for dutch players who are unfortunately getting fed up witch the problems
