Building: Map elements cannot be removed by placing decoration buildings any more
on the presumption this relates to the grass/bushy little things that spawn; can you not just stop them spawning full stop? The player workaround of planting flowerbeds then demolishing them to get rid of them has purely been to win back build space that was previously there.
New improvements are always welcome.
I hope some time in the future we get our island cleaned 'cause there is a lot of wasted space and not sure why. Maybe we did something wrong on the beginning and now we have so much space useless.
I still forsee trouble with chat being disabled till lvl 5. Only yesterday had someone in help tab struggling at lvl 4.
so what happens to all the buildings on those spots ?Quote:
Building: Map elements cannot be removed by placing decoration buildings any more
as we already saw on test it doesn't involve buildings on bushes etc only, but a lot more. Buildings spots will be reduced
Greatly Reduced places to put buildings.
Everyone better make screenshots of their islands
is this what we get ??
And how about the areas where rocks have been removed, has those been fixed or can't we build there anymore either ?
It would be appreciated if we get an answer about this
i hope this also means its no longer in artefact searches too :)Quote:
Buff: "Solar Flare" is removed from the shop, as zone buffs can be cancelled with the new UI
I just found out about it and thought was a great way to get rid of bush who were making life hard.
We got way too many bush, tree, rocks (and not all rocks/rubbles are destructible! by the way we don't even have enough Shotfirer and Demolition crew in the merchnat to get rid of all those who can be demolished lol).
I read several player complaning about the excess of tree, bush and rocks even in the new archipelago but doesn't looks like anyone is listening :)
Let's make an example. The new easter event building Spacious Storehouse is very fast and perfect for the new improved building althought...where should we place it? with al the bush and tree and undestructible rubble/rocks it's potential is just wasted!
I keep wondering if you actually listen to any long time player before making such changelog.
Please think well about this! If you really wanna change something then get rid at least of those bushes, trees and rubbles who are just in the way (example ins ectors 8 and 9!)
Building: Map elements cannot be removed by placing decoration buildings any more
Going to make the free move weeks pointless.
"Building: Map elements cannot be removed by placing decoration buildings any more"
Just wondering...shall we expect a "Gardner buff" to remove 1 bush at 400 gems each? :D
Seems to me that changes good or bad are bulldozed through regardless of feedback on the test server, bringing in the map elements thing is a bad move. I cannot see for the life of me why this is deemed high priority, over the last 3 years I've had locked zones a few times and every single time it's been Generals landing in obscure places or creating ghost images of themselves. The last time you tried tinkering with this on test I was locked out for weeks.
Regarding minimum amount of collectibles why does everything have to be so vague, why can't you just say from next implemented change everyone will get a minimum of 20 collectibles for instance. Infact given that it's now a right royal pain gathering enough to make more than a few buffs why not swamp the servers and give everyone a minimum of 40.
As Bluesavanah says, "Seems to me that changes good or bad are bulldozed through regardless of feedback "
Seems to me that the developers forget who ultimately pays their wages. Yes, we the players who invest money purchasing gems! Perhaps a few thoughts might be given to fair play before anything else is screwed up. Without gem buyers, there would be no game.
..................... Srsly why even bother with mapelements? REMOVE THE BUSHES ALREADY! not like we want them or need them for anything anyway. They are annoying and dont add anything to the gameplay. We want buildingspace, why give us more space if you are going to clutter up the space we already have. We want improvements to the game not more annoying features.
Sigh, despite all our feedback they went and did it anyway. :(
Why do we bother? Despite our love and loyalty for the game, somebody seems hell-bent on wrecking it at every turn.
There are 566 building licences in game and lots of licence free buildings... even more to come! so there is already NOT ENOUGH SPACE!! I've never used the exploit to gain more spaces, but by what is on test even the regular spaces are going to be massively reduced. In what world is this a good idea bb selling something which cannot be used (pretty sure that is against european trade laws). This is NOT! an improvement it's a game breaker and will cause a lot to leave the game gem buyers especialy. Stupidest idea ever well done to the olympic standard moron that came up with it you have surpassed what even the most special 'special needs' person could ever hope to achieve I'm sure your parents are sooo proud
Just a few questions from me:
"Building: Map elements cannot be removed by placing decoration buildings any more"
It may really be it wasn't intended to go live and instead remained as an "unintended feature" years ago, but since it was given the possibility many used this "feature", or call it however you wish, to build things how they want to. If it was a bug hanging there for the last 4 years then we shouldnt be punished for hesitation to remove it long ago. I am positively sure many used it even accidentally after moving their flowerbed lawns, wow! - a sudden nice place appeared to put an improved storehouse, just as an illustration...
After the "improvement", or call it however you wish again, what happens to them affected building chains ? Can we expect buildings disappearing or being put back to star ? We did use a considerable amount of resources to upgrade, our time, and after all, our real money, to make those building chains as we wish for and WHERE we wish for, since the opportunity was already been given and here for years.
Will we get any assurance bad things will not happen to our buildings ?
Another rather big problem that BB should really take into account, what happens when a player moves the building placed there back in 2012 and finds out the building site is a darn bush now ? Frustration - only thing that will be deployed with this "improvement" will be frustration, and will be lots of it over the years to come, especially to the players that have been with you BB since the early beginnings. Do you want to chase them away ? Is that the real intention of this improvement ? Why don't rather make all those bushes magically disappear, leaving a building spot at its former location and plant more bushes on the unbuildable places, as a non-(re)movable decoration !
Reduction of building spots
Yet one another utter nonsense - You gave us improved farms, that naturally demand more improved silos, and finally those demanding a lot more free building space regions so we can manage them into farm/silo clusters, and now it will become impossible to do it again ?
Another implication of the afore mentioned frustration - new player trying to copy a farm/silo cluster from a veteran player, finding out he cannot build it that way on the exact same location, reason ? "Sorry kid, you came in too late, i'm a veteran and under special conditions here that you're not allowed to have..." See ? There you get even more frustration and even a wider gap between old and new players and more new players early giving up on the game !
Is this BB wishes for ? I most certainly doubt as no cash in it...
(think 2x, measure 3x, build 1x)
Player_X :" Hi, I'm level 4 and stuck on this quest, I would like to ask a question, as it seems I CAN NOT progress to level 5 without completing this quest "
BB_X : " Hi, I'm sorry, we do not want to hear about your issue with this quest before you reach level 5, have a nice day. Oh and if your problem with not being able to chat and ask a question persists, please contact support ;) "
Well done ;)
@Smiffy2204 yepp! kind of.
The chances of an answer have to be exceedingly low as it is quite likely no-one that end has actually done the calculations. The reply would merely be that this is being done to stop players exploiting a flaw in the programming which was never meant to exist..... meanwhile I will be covering every spare square I have with nobles.
Bushes are not the issue here. For the devs not to be concerned with this bug for years made sense as it was one of those sweet harmless accidents that made players feel they had a special edge on the game but in a very small way. They are going to fix build issues that are on the live servers now which dwarf the whole thing with the bushes. Unfortunately the cute bush trick will suffer from collateral damage so to speak as they get rid of the elephants in the room.
Building my island is the reason I play this game, and I love it. I log on a few times each day. Remember when a Friary only used a footprint of 1x1? Seemed to come and go in a blink of an eye. Maybe just a few hours and then was updated with a fix. I didn't like the stacking/overlap look and buffing was kind of tricky so I placed them properly side by side shortly after (harmless fun). The quick fix missed something though so I still have my friarys in a place you can't do anymore. I know if I move them I can never put them back there. There have been things like this that have come and gone over the years and there are other things that have been there for years with some still remaining. This appears to be the first major attempt on the 16th to once and for all remove and prevent future build bugs like this from happening. I know a lot of players are bracing themselves for the side effects though.
Some may disagree, but I don't see the "what happens to buildings on these locations, etc." as the highest priority of concern. Moving a building will now have a touch of anxiety latched to it for any players who are really picky about how they build on their islands for a long time to come. My advice is to not even think about using the test server to determine build plot changes. Find someone on your friends list who doesn't have much built or is too concerned where things are placed and pass them some gold, and have them try it first. Yes I know, we shouldn't have to do this but it's not too expensive, it's interactive and beats back the side effects in an almost game like way.
I can't get myself to believe that there will be any kind of significant drop in build plots but if there is...this thread will probably make TSO history :)
Still +1

The other day it was still there on the Test Server so... fingers crossed for a crossover fix.

And again, +1

The "map elements"/flowerbed trick thing, as it is now for France, is nowhere near as hideous as the first go was in testing. While there may (or may not) be tweaks between there and the release to the rest of the world for now it's... not that bad? although it is still puzzling it's being addressed 4 years on when currently it appears more harmless, helpful, and amusing than anything else. Purely personally, I don't like it. Unless it's breaking things in a way it's difficult to see from out here landscaping away random weeds is fun and makes the map make more sense. Random, glued down dirt clods seem to make less sense.

Nice to see the extra Adventure chat coming in though more "Oops, wrong chat"s seem likely due to the tiny new and ever changeable tabs, even with their also-tiny descriptive mouseover text.
And - If this is coming, which seems extra awkward given the cited diversity of the Euro English servers:
then it's time to update this:
UPDATE:
The new game version has been postponed and the new deployment date is February 23rd 2016.
So is the number of global chat channels really going to be reduced? Some language channels removed without providing an alternative?
yes ^^ Id rather have it all ship shape than suffer what they have by having trade suspended etc
As much as we moan and groan sometimes, we all want the game playable, so as far as Im concerned good its been shelved for a week

here is an example of why this should not be implemented, it not tested properly and is currently broken.

in this picture you can clearly see there are 3 legitimate magnificent residence positions however in the second picture you can see they will not go.

The two weeds highlighted do not stop building placement of normal buildings but they kill magnificent residence positions, there are probably loads more like this.
pictures relate to border of sector 6/9
Is there a prize for working out where on the islands that is?

We were talking about the huge mess on the french servers atm
Is the upcoming change log fixed or should we all put our island to sleep, make sure we have screenshots of our starmenu and not play for a few weeks after the update ?
I will take screen shots of my island and my star menu to make sure nothing gets lost. We have seen BB deploy severely broken updates before even when they knew that they were well and truly broken. They also seem to be totally unable to roll back an update which is strange. I guess the code base for the game is a total mess or something. The simplest way to handle a major bug in a software deployment is to revert back to the last stable version. Apparently, this is impossible for this game as they preferred to actually shut down the ability to trade on the French servers rather than just shut down the servers for a couple of hours and deploy the precious version of the game again. I think they should focus their efforts of making their code actually halfway usable rather than fixing pointless bugs like the whole bush thing.
The simplest and smartest solution to that bug would be to just remove the bushes and let them be regular buildings sites instead. That way they get some good will from the community when they can say that they are handing out extra space for free. Doesn't really matter that it has effectively been free for years. Now they have a buggy mess and an annoyed player base and what do they gain? Well they gain absolutely nothing but loads of work for the devs. So instead of a win-win situation, they chose lose-lose. And here I was, slowly getting some confidence back in the dev team again. Guess I can throw that out of the window.
Really not looking to forward to discovering newly glued down weeds and dirt clods. Even if, for some mysterious reason, the 'shrub removal trick' had to go blocking building spots with fiddly little graphics that were never a problem before is excessive.
In other news, will we be getting these in the update? They're listed and active in France but there's no mention yet of them here.
• Yes please.Quote:

There are around 30 chat channels in the game and many of them are hardly used.
With the introduction of the dedicated multi-player adventure channels, the need to provide such a high amount of channels is even lower and therefore it is planned to reduce the number of global channels in 2016 (most likely down to 10 channels).
