Personally I think the 7 days is a good and fair method.
I would prefer to stop on the final day but maybe lowering the amount of gems after you reach day 7.
Also when it resets it the next week does have different rarer recourses.
It does reset to day 1 but the recourses do change.
I personally would prefer it to stay on day 7 but lower the amount of gems.
