So does this mean that Steam players simply won't be able to play until you guys eventually figure this out? Why will you not allow for Steam players to move to having a normal browser account, which we do know is possible, as it has been done in the past. Now would seem the best time to allow players to move their account from Steam to an email. Otherwise... "We are working on enabling as many ways to log in and play the game as possible. " basically has me reading "you will not be playing the game until April". Which.......... is really unsatisfactory. It has been known for some time that flash would go down. It has been known for some time that the steam client is unreliable. Players have moved from Steam to Browser in the past, and yet for the past year, you have refused to allow players to move from Steam to browser... and now, Steam users are being left out in the wind.
So... is there already a link where we can download the test server for settlers? or when is that gonna be available?
I was a vocal critic of your transition plans in the past. For the first time in ages, you inspired confidence in me that you actually can make this happen. Huge effort still outstanding but I keep my fingers crossed.

Roughly in mid-January, you will also require an Uplay account to continue playing. This has several reasons such as security, homogenizing our technology overall instances, and getting ready for all future steps. So, this is another important task we all need to complete as early as possible to ensure our islands continue thriving.

Will a Ubisoft/Uplay Account be required for the Unity version / the temporary client version?
In mid-January Uplay accounts will become mandatory to play the Settlers Online. As announced previously, this step is important to adhere to our guidelines regarding service quality, security and to align all world-wide instances to the same login method.
So uplay login only?????????????????Quote:
How does the Unity port & Temporary Flash-Based Client affect platforms such as Steam, Facebook and Kongregate?
We are working on enabling as many ways to log in and play the game as possible. More specific info will follow.
that sucks what if our facebook login stuff same as uplay ones on different server we cant be on 2 servers same email etc.
this really important like person on steam said above this if this not sorted before april that is not right or fair tbh
I have a email account so uplay and i have a facebook account so are you saying us on facebook wont be able to play them accounts like steam peeps i know someone that plays on steam are they not going to be able to play until april?????????????????
sorry like but like many i been locked out my account for days since last update coz fb login got broken only just managed to get back in it today
maybe you can unlink steam or facebook from some players accounts to get them on uplay bit not everyone and im one of them cant do that.
so i would like to know what the plan is for us on facebook and them on steam as well coz i know a player on steam
I wish you luck with ten transition, not an easy task. And about the delays - if the downloaded client will be useful, it is possible to accept it, understand it and "survive" until unity solution ;-) .
See now I feel much better about the future then i did will others be able to use the client if they use the same device to play?
Both my wife and I have Uplay accounts that open at level one. Every time. No matter what we do.
Since the changes earlier this year the ONLY way I can login is via facebook. What course of action should we take to get a Uplay account which allows access to my level 72 game?
there is a thread on this in the german forums dont have link to hand sorry but i found it as on the german server since having uplay account i am lvl 1 and my user name is different to here and the us server i am on...i have deleted the profile on the german server hopefully i will be able then access the account i have on there under this name ..just need a BB to put a step by step guide for us
This is indeed good news...
a question - if we have a unisoft login do we need a uplay one as well, sorry if it sounds a stupid question, I dont know what uplay is.
It would be nice to get some details about moving to a Uplay account, namely how is this done and do we lose my current profile and have to start from the beginning. I also have a ubisoft account for the old 'offline' settlers (different email address) will this be an issue.
There's a thread dating back from last May already. Simply by reading it, then applying the guidance and doing what my browser asks me to modify in order to make it work, I succeeded in migrating my account to a Uplay account.
Not yet. We want to start it as soon as possible.
As far as I'm aware, it's possible. Just hit our support team.
We got a FAQ here. If you're still having problems, please contact our support team.
Uplay is actually Ubisoft Connect. So if you have a Ubisoft login and are using it to login, you are good to go :)
I also updated one point in the FAQ:
Are we going to use the current Slim Browser during the transition, or will this be updated/reworked?
- It will be a new and updated Download Client. We will provide a MacOS installer for the client.
I have personally asked, multiple times, over the past year. I've been denied every single time. They say that they don't have a way to unlink the steam accounts, although people have done it before.
I would gladly unlink my account from steam in a heartbeat. I know a number of people that would as well.
We got a FAQ here. If you're still having problems, please contact our support team.
I have read this FAQ many times. It does not help with my problem. I cannot see the "Migrate to Ubisoft account" option in my profile so all the remaining advice which refers to this process does not appear to help me.
I have a Ubisoft account and if I log in with it the game opens at level one.
I can ONLY login to my correct Level 72 with the Facebook login option.
If I delete my Ubisoft account will this magically reinstate the "Migrate to Ubisoft" option in my profile and allow me to create a new account linked to the correct level or will I be frozen out completely?
Will support actually help me, or just wait three days and close the ticket?
I have a uplay account but currently log in using facebook. my uplay account is linked to facebook. however if I login via uplay i start as a new settler, not my existing account. I have read the faq and there is no information regarding how to migrate my exiting log in to my uplay account.
This is extremly frustrating as I have been playing for a number of years and I do not want to lose all my progress.
There are a lot of players using a facebook log in and I am sure many that have the same issue.
If you want to disconnect your Facebook/Steam account and move it to Ubi, please contact the Support Team, they are able to do so.
For any migration issues, please also contact our support team.
Please send me a PM with your ticket ID if you don't get a reply within 1-2 days.
@BB_Trafffer any idea when the xmas test will be out I know you said it would likely be on the new test server that you want us all to get used to also the new client because of the possible down time with flash ending on the 31st ...normally xmas even is around a week before xmas day so around the 18th but that would mean the event would need to start on the 14th this year as the 21st seems to close to actual xmas.. but either way isnt much time left for us to even test the xmas event let alone get used to new server and client as its being left so late
After instaling your stupid client
https://prnt.sc/vq018q
Your stupid client TSO broke my browser firefox and edge and some aplications in PC. Now need reinstal or windows or need try to repair what your stupid client broke in my PC!
https://prnt.sc/vq09kl
Nice...
calm down the http error has nothing to do with the client as its a common problem been going on for ages and they dont know why....as for the other thing that happens when windows thinks there is a threat just run it anyway but wouldnt at moment is a glitch which is easily fixed but you would prob have a heart attack seeing the http error sent you into a meltdown
Thank you BB for putting the new client on the test server :)
The new client has to be launched by pressing the 'play now' button in the browser; there is no option to play in browser on the test server any more. This is fine on the test server, but an all-or-nothing approach on live servers will be sure to cause problems for some players.
Will there be a period of having two 'play' buttons on live servers - one for the client and one for browser play?
so how do you get this to work? i downloaded the link, then it creates an icon, i click that and it asks me to uninstall.. it then uninstalls then installs again. what am i missing? thanks
Download the client, install it, then launch the game from the play button. You may have to acknowledge some security warnings on the test client, and it only works on the test server at the moment.
The test server forum is best for support on it at the moment.
OK got it to work ty, got through the errors messages etc changed some letters.
looks promising though :)
What's up? Wasn't there supposed to be Unity Test server as the first step? Is it download flash client test server instead?
This is for the test server
So far there only seems to be a downloadable .exe client version…
What about unix derivatives?
Also, since I'm not planning on updating my browser:
will the regular flash version work (the current /play URL), or will the Ubisoft client be required and in case of any problems with it,
people for whom the Ubisoft client will not work (but will have a browser supporting Flash) won't be able to play during the transition stage ’or worse’?
In the FAQ it's only stated that it MIGHT be possible, to play on a browser with Flash during the transition period, but that's not reassuring at all.
Also from the FAQ:
’Is it going to be possible to play TSO Unity version on Linux/Mac/Chromebook/Mobile Devices?
On Linux, you may have to install a browser plugin for the Unity Player.’
There doesn't seem to be any such Unity Player. Internet only returns results about running windows plugin version on linux using Pipelight,
but Pipelight itself is not supported anymore and dead…
I hope for a more detailed Settlers->Unity FAQ to be published later on, but thought to better ask this soon, because at this moment this doesn't look good.
So far I can only download the client with .exe... will there be an installation file for Macbook eventually ?
Windows 7
This compulsory move to Ubisoft seems as clear as mud to me. Page for migration reads like this:
There is one big form in the center column. Nothing on the left, nothing on the right ............ dah ........Quote:
Migrate to Ubisoft account
Your "The Settlers Online" profile is not linked to a Ubisoft account! If you link it now, either by entering your Ubisoft account credentials on the left, or by creating a new Ubisoft account on the right, you'll receive some cool rewards for your "The Settlers Online" profile (sent via in-game message).
How do I know if I have a Ubisoft account?
Will those of us with accounts on more than one server be able to log in to both on the interim client?
+1
Step by step instructions to migrate, or link, a FB login TSO profile to UPLAY TSO profile, maintaining all progress and purchases, are required.
Not some support black hole with copy and paste responses about cache and 20 min logoffs, proper instructions or route through support with details of exactly what they require to action a request.
I do not understand why it wont accept my username.
Do i need to make a new username?
i followed guide but that does not say anything about username.
sorry i am not much good on a computer.
