How about providing a buff made from collections which will temporarily turn sandy spots into grass.
The buff could last for a couple of days at a time. Maybe another use for the scarecrows and barrels which are abundant?

why would we want this? It serves no purpose other than adding more load to the server.
Are you (not) saying the grassy spot would then have a better purpose other than not been a sandy one? Sorry if I appear to misunderstand your proposal :confused:
I would like to see the area in front of my mayors house more like a garden than a patchy desert.
I have decorated that area and if I could, I would fix up the sandy bits and generally improve the look of that area.
As your buildings go up in level they generally become nicer to look at - more opulent, why then should the building surrounds also not improve?
Personally, I'd like some palm trees and oases in s9.
...no, I actually agree with that. I've mostly given up on decorations. The muddy patches make anything I try look cheap. :P You can't even build roads on them. But I'd rather they just changed those parts of the map.
I agree. I'd like that as well, or buffs or something.
So BB come on and get rid of those ugly parts of the map - Especially in s1!
