There is no doubt the ranged support is worth using on DB adventure. You get more than 120 starcoins in loot, and saves a lot of horses!
Just finished a DB. Killed 2 vets, each with 250 cavs, 1 ranged support and then last attack with Major (100R 20M 150K). Worked like a charm ;)
it is possible to play a DB with 7 times ranged support and no losses at all
it is but means saving 7 of them up at least this way you get the star coins back in loot to buy replacement ranged

Ranged Support is RoA's predecessor, which was freely available at the time of ROLANDHOLLANDER's post and could be used multiple times to complete a DB without sending a single troop.... and still can be for anyone still hoarding any.
