I have no clue why one would need to get a mail while using the trade office; there is anough lag on the server already and the new trade system will only add more!
the only thing i'd like to see...
if you have multiple generals with different troopconfiguration, the star menu is of no help. A color flag for each general (and garrison) might help you in remembering which general has which config
maybe a summary would help: once an hour you get a mail with "mage xx buffed 2 of your buildings", eventually with the details
or even better: a window which keeps track of all received and sent...
maybe creating the option to change it all into your personal preferences (color, size of text, width of chatbox, ...) would make everyone happy
2-3 extra tabs to keep multiple 'global' chats open...
