This is probably too obvious and you may have already done this but have you tried clicking on the quest book next to avatar, sometimes my adventure windows disappear and i find them in there :)

I agree totally, was about to suggest it myself, perhaps if you hover over a buffed building it can show you buff time remaining, that way you can plan when to rebuff or stop production etc.
