There are only 6 setups for the camps. I.e., there are lots of camps (40+ as you note), but each one will fit the template of one of the 6 above.
2.5 days. I would not recommend starting it until the 10th December (so that it counts in the stats).
Is this bit actually true? Do we get presents during/at the end, or is the loot a bug with the adventure?
It could have been either - I had an explorer searching for each type, couldn't tell which one came back with the adventure.
