probably because they are now "active" on your home island, so you can drop them on Mayor House to get back the resources. Shouldn't be on adv tho...

If you don't get it now, you will always be behind, since cooldown will drop with extra Parks in the future. We don't know when next one will become available, but it will drop cooldown to ~24h, next...

I had same issue yes, first explorers returning ~1h after start with no eggs, others a few hours later did bring eggs. So has nothing to do with logged out or not, I was logged in during start.
