I had same problem with Forerunner Hull parts ... I got around it by selecting "Sell surplus parts for some coins" in The Forerunner to remove the amount that I needed to produce.

Still getting Zone Crashed waiting for Love Garden buff expiry is pointless :(
The game stopped working soon after I used the love garden buff also ... now hoping I will be able to get back into the game after 12 hours elapsed and buff expires.
Ditto since hotfix ... cleared cache etc , logged out, waited, tried several times ... all to no avail ... "An error was detected on this zone. Please try again"

I hope a cancel button never gets added. A lot of bad choices made in real life have no cancel button, so why should a bad choice in game be any different. Everyone should learn from their mistakes.
