Boss I can't kill

I'm having problems killing a boss. He has 6000, but I'm not sure if he heals after a failed attack. Any ideas of how many troops I should send against him? I've tried 3 times and each time get slapped back, lol. Help would be greatly appreciated. I only have the first 3 types of troops available.

A boss, if not killed, instantly heals after battle.
Some great guides here on the forums. Look at those and you will know how to beat this boss.
