Thread: The tutorial is too slow

Or, stop sitting in front of the screen for hours waiting for things to be done. Go and do something else, then it won't feel as slow. (Not directed at you btw, Psychyn)

But! But! I like sitting in front of my screen for hours! ..

I kid but it's something I had to 'learn' as well. Play a other game in the meanwhile, put up a queue and check back every x minutes. Helps out a lot.

And in the end, all of the browser based games involving cities and building them go slow, that's how it is meant to be.
The servers last long, very long, so if you would get all the options/buildings from the start it would get boring really quickly.

And it gets you 'attached' to it, you don't want to lose you settlement, or village idc, just because you have put all that time and effort in it, there is no quick restart button like in the Settlers original game, so in a way it helps people play it more seriously.

Yes, it does have something to do with the tutorial, because it's supposed to teach you how to play the game. If I'm sat there for 10 minutes with nothing to do, I'm not learning how to play the game, am I? There's little reason why the tutorial can't speed things up (with the good ol' "We're speeding this up for tutorial purposes, but in the real game it will take longer" excuse) or get you to explore other aspects of the game whilst your explorer/miner are doing the work.

It's not me disliking the game - I have not said that, so why you seem to think I do I've no idea - it's me explaining why I agree that the tutorial is too slow.

If you aren't liking the fact u have to wait 10 minutes then you are going to have a really hard time when further in the game!
    Let me explain the tutorial:
    - It doesn't hold u back from building certain buildings, it's because of the fact u need a certain level to build them u can only build 1-2 buildings right from the start.
    - It only explains what those buildings do, how to use them, give a nice start by giving u bonuses when completing quests (doesn't matter if u like it, the things that make u complete the quest are the things u have to do to build up your settlement).
    - It wouldn't be good if the tutorial would speed up processes etc. why not? Because if you leave the tutorial and everything would be normal, some people might be greatly discouraged when they see things aren't going 'so fast' anymore, that's just the game: u click, wait or do something else, come back after a while,..

I hope I made my point.

And The Settlers games have done those things at a perfect pace in the past, as have the Anno games. They artificially facilitate things for you so you can get to grips with it. I accept that this is different to them, but I'm putting it forward as an example.

The "problem" is that the tutorial feels slow. Very slow. You could play for an hour and not get a lot done. People might get bored during the tutorial and go and play something else instead because it's so... Shall we say, relaxed in its pacing. It could easily be a separate map (I don't know if it is or not - I assume so) that speeds you through the basics, making it clear throughout that it's accelerated for the purpose of a tutorial to get you through those simple points that you need.

Up you made youre point and i disagree. you are talking about the game play in genral im talking about the time from you start to you are in controll that is not before level 16. that took 3 days and is far to loong that makes the gaming booring the fun part is when you are in full control and can make youre own town.

I hope i made my point!

If you would take away the tutorial, reaching level 16 would (even?) go slower, u don't get the quest bonuses.
If you make going from lv 1-16 faster, which they already did, I see people go to 16 really fast, but then slow down tremendously, you would just get frustrated at lv. 17+.

    U get what I mean?
