I did some mats on this, and the gold cost is just insane for the upgrades. I converted the gold to marble and hardwood, without buffs (wich really makes no difference for the results, if you get 1.5x (semi-realistic 2x buffing with 6h buffs if you have a job to go to)). I ignored the tool cost wich is high aswell.

    Storehouse

    Level Hardwood Marble
    1 120 100
    2 300 150
    3 18667 18667+300

So from level 1 to 2 it costs 250% hardword and 150% marble to upgrade, but from level 2 to 3 the same is 6222% for marble.

I havent upgraded any buildings to level 4 so i cant make the calculations for this as this costs really are a game breaker for me.

    Maths:

One gold mine that will give you 37,5 gold over 16,25h costs 1400 hardwood and 1400 marble (and 1500 tools)

Cost to get the 500 gold for upgrading from level 3 to 4 (300 ore per mine, 8 ore per coin, 1400 hardwood and 1400 marble) =

    (500 / (300 / 8)) * 1 400 = 18 666.6667

this is why gold production is one thing that you just HAVE TO keep buffed at all times.

Thats the one of reasons for looking better balanced games or playing good old Der Siedler - The Settler III instead of this madness.

As long as player do more trading it becomes imperative to balance gold mine construction with another buildings... Coinage production should be used for exchange... like this, coins earned by doing quest nullifies actual production.

    Example:

Average price for 400 bronze sword is from 15 - 75 coinage... and if we look coinage production 400 bronze sword should cost only 3 coins to balance same coinage production...

Please BB I am begging you in the name of all players... give us production material balance, so we can enjoy playing...

    Thank you

Regardless of each personal opinion on this matter, it seems that a substantial quantity of players are griping about this. If BB are serious about making this game uber-popular, they need to address such issues.

When I built my first gold mine and seeing that it only contained 300 gold ore I cried a little bit inside...

Buffing 24/7 is not viable for me, I can't be there every 6 hours, more like every 12. I probably get only half uptime on buffs so I can only squeeze about 75 coins per mine accordingly. I think I'll stick to clearing camps, ripping off people clearing camps via trading and the 6th day's bonus to be honest and save the licenses...

If you can log on twice a day and exchange irma buffs with a friend then you can run the gold chain at 75% efficiency (buffed 18h a day) and reliably make more money than the mine costs to build (except on a very new server.) If you can't log on twice a day to exchange buffs then it's not worth it and you'll just have to get by on whatever coins you can get from trading - but trading away all those goods is likely to take a lot longer even if you don't have to be so consistent about your logins.

I just see it as easy gold without having to trade for it, with a small profit.
i'm lvl 38. I already run 3x lvl 2 steel weapon smith and 1x lvl 2 iron weapon smith. Each buffed all day. Currently that production alone has a tradeworth of over 500gc per day at current prices.
However to even make the money i have to spend alot of time trading, swords do not sell fast unless you sell at really cheap prices.
In between i trade alot of coal for extra bread, beer, tools and what not.
Have to buy firwood and stones for farms, since i dont produce them.
Have to spend time getting iron ore since i dont use iron mines.
In other words, i already have to spend alot of time in trade i dont really have the time to also try sell my tools, marble and what not i'd otherwise use on gold production which i'd have surplus then.
Hence the reason i currently run a lvl 3 coinage, lvl 3 melter, lvl 3 goldmine and keep m buffed all day long.
The coinage gives me 360gc a day without me having to grade for it in any way.
Except trading my marble or whatever for hardwood planks which i dont produce, only produce marble, but thats easy. I just have to occasionally click on someone offering hardwood planks for marble.

I'm planning to build another melter and coinage, each lvl 3 so that gives me an easy 720gc a day.
I'll make sure to be able to produce the tools and marble needed myself. I'd again only have to trade for hardwood planks which i can do with the surplus of marble ill have.
Currently i have 10 marble buildings each lvl 2, ill upgrade them to lvl 3. Keep m buffed and make 9600 marble a day while i need 4k marble a day and 4k hardwood planks a day which are for building 6 coalmines a day and 2 to 3 goldmines a day.
Ill also make enough tools per day to not have to buy m.
Yes i do have the licenses for all of that.

Anyway why wouldnt i want an easy 720gc a day just from coinages without me having to spend any time trying to sell all mats instead, at a loss since coinage gives me profit over selling the mats in trade ?

I see gold production as mats conversion to gold. Thats all it is, with a small profit. It saves me spending time trading.
I dont care about the gold investment. What else are you gonna do with your gold besides using it on upgrades, after a certain lvl that is.
I want the gold faster and easier so i can upgrade easier and keep on doing adventures every day.

Even at current market prices for wood, marble, tools i'd make over 100 gc profit by just keeping my lvl 3 coinage buffed instead of skipping the gold production and sell the materials needed in trade.
Now i get the profit and dont have to trade for it. I think thats a good deal.

Btw i dont buy any gems or parrots etc so for me its all pure profit and selfsustained.
I think up till now i only bought 30 extra licenses from saved up gems per lvl.
