Trade never returns

At 16:00hour (CET) I replied to an offer in Trade, and has yet not recieved a respons from the seller, nor got my gold back yet.
Some of my friends tells me that has happened to them too.

Does this happen alot?
Should I note down what trades I'm trying to do?

Or can I just kiss them goodbye?

wait for 8 hours and you get your resource back if they didn't respond.
