i think prices are to high for what you can buy for it.
i play a lot of games to. and this wil be the first that dont give directly power to the buyer.
thats fine for me, but i think they need to change the price a little.
so you can make good deals whit the gems you buy.

some of the prices are fine, eg:

    golden parrot
    noble deed
    +10 license
    Jolly geo
    savage scout

I am not sure anything else other than those actually sell, some of the architect stuff in lower numbers maybe. They could just remove the Resources, Wholesale and Deposits (except golden parrot) sections and no one would care. The adventure prices jumped too much as well, you could have all 14 scouts possible and it still takes 2+ months to buy a single higher level adventure.

Just to add insult to injury, the new instant upgrades via gems now potentially cost 100,000 gems for some of the lvl4-5 upgrades, that's over £250. I did predict this kind of jump earlier though :P greedy people are so predictable. What's next then, 500,000 gems or £1250 to move a single building?

If you don't like the price/advantage ratio of the items then simply don't buy them. Personally when I buy a normal PC-game for say 50 euro's I'm quite content if I get a good 50 hours of playtime out of it, so that's my usual guideline for online games aswell. I have bought 20 euro worth of gems so far and have gotten by far more than 20 hours of playtime out of this game and honestly I don't feel I'm missing out on anything that would require me to pay more.

I've also seen people complain that for the prices that items are sold currently they don't feel its worth buying as you only gain something small and give that as an argument that things should be cheaper. Isn't this a good thing for a free game, if the advantage that you get is only small, doesn't that mean that free players have a reasonable chance of keeping up with people that do invest some money into the game? Sure maybe Ubi might make more money if they make it cheaper and sell their stuff to more people, why would I as a player care about that? Sure I like the settlers games and don't mind if Ubi makes some money, but who am I to start giving them business advice?

tl;dr: If you think the payed items in this otherwise awesome free game, then don't buy them instead of whining about it.

It turns out the 3->4 and 4->5 upgrade costs are quite similar, upgrading provision house from 4->5 costs 21834, not quite 100,000 but still high enough to not be worth ever doing.

I have been buying a few of the starter packs. The prices are very high in game I dont care what the mods say. I know your forbiden to say anything negative. Off puttingly high if thats a word I dont even want to mention the hardship in trying to produce coins.
So the starter pack is the best way for me. You get a good general 2500 gems a water mill a silo 250 coins. You can buy a copy for a tenner at the moment.

Not any more you can't, Amazon are now unable to source these retail packs and have cancelled everyones orders. I expect tesco, zavvi and any others to do the same if they haven't already
