Try this below for proxy settings. I found I could log in and all ok. I couldn't get into the forums though.

    Taken from VM forum.

The proxy to use is : webcache.virginmedia.com

The port number is : 8080

How to set up proxy in Internet Explorer

Step 1 On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options, click the Connections tab, and then click LAN Settings.
Step 2 Under Proxy server, click to select the Use a proxy server for your LAN check box.
Step 3 In the Address box, type the IP address of the proxy server. (e.g. proxy.abc.com or 202.188.17.24)
Step 4 In the Port box, type the port number that is used by the proxy server for client connections (by default, 8080).
Step 5 You can click to select the Bypass proxy server for local addresses check box if you do not want the proxy server computer to be used when you connect to a computer on the local network.
Step 6 Click OK to close the LAN Settings dialog box.
Step 7 Click OK again to close the Internet Options dialog box.

    Proxy for Firefox

To enable proxy settings in Firefox

Select Tools -> Options. ( In some Firefox browser's you have to go to Edit>Preferences usually in LInux )
    Select Advanced.
    Open the Network tab.
In 'Connections' area click 'Settings' button.
Select Manual Proxy Configuration radio button.
In the necessary proxy field(s), put the same settings in the HTTP field then
    Click 'OK'

This has been taken from the VirginMedia forums and people have been able to access the game only but not the forums:

Please make sure that you make a note of any existing proxy settings first!

Clear your internet browser history, cache, cookies and temp files, making sure you are not on the main TSO page at the time.

This only works with either Internet Explorer or FireFox. Chrome users will not be able to configure a proxy.

Definitely have one for me please psephony! The other thing to do is to clear all internet history, cache, temp files and cookies - making sure you are not on the TSO page at the time, along with the above mentioned settings changes.

Actually, they can. If they go to Settings-->Show advanced settings there's a place in Network to change proxy settings.

We were trying to keep it as simple as possible iridium21 Chrome picks proxy settings from the same place as IE, but can be a bit difficult to get working so we thought it best to run with both IE and FF as the problem is only expected to last until Sunday PM

Latest update we have from the Virgin Media forums is that the issue is still ongoing, it is not affecting all users but those who are routed through one specific data centre. Unfortunately, they will not disclose which data centre is affected. We will post updates as we get them from the VM Forums.

Reports on the Virgin Media forums now indicate that the problems they were experiencing have now been resolved. Users should be able to remove their proxy settings and go back to normal without any loss of service or connectivity. Please note that after removing your proxy settings, you should clear your internet browser cache, cookies and temporary internet files and restart your machine before connecting to our sites.
