I think it might be a good idea to have an in-game profile which u can view, rather than having to come onto the forum to see a profile. Also it might be a fun idea if we can rate other players in game to have a 'player popularity score 'and give them 'fame' or 'likes' :)
I'm here to resurrect your thread, I tried to visualize your idea this is what i came up with.
There are 4 tabs here.
1. Profile (Shows ingame information)
2. Personal (Shows personal information, this should be considered not implementing or hiding )
3. Trade (Tell other players what your needs are in your profile)
4. Forum (shows your active posts/topics)
I use the facebook like button as i guess that is what you want by liking or faming people
