Angry Unable to play - stuck with blank Tip of the Day screen and blue background

    Hi all,
hoping someone can help me with this as I've hit a dead end.

On one particular machine I cannot login - I'm stuck with the "Tip of the Day" Window, though it contains no update news, and a blue background.

I've tried restarting the machine, updating flash, using both IE and Firefox, and clearing caches on both, all to no avail.

Does TSO have dependencies on any other bits of software I might have installed such as shockwave or java or so on?

TSO was previously working on this machine. I'm on Newfoundland [Realm 1] if that matters or helps.

I did try Internet Explorer as well, and I'm getting the exact same fault. The game is working fine on my other machine, just not this one. I've tried reinstalling the latest versions of Flash and Java as well, which didn't help.

It's horribly frustrating and may lead to me stopping TSO altogether as I normally only play on the affected machine.

Sounds like it's something on that particular machine preventing it from running correctly if it's affecting both FF and IE. What firewalls have you running?

It's a corporate firewall as I'm currently using it at work for breaks etc, so I don't have the exact settings, however it *was* working fine and suddenly stopped. A colleague of mine is still using TSO fine and we are both on the same network so I don't think it can be that either!

    Hi ChrisPCarter,

Have you tried emptying your cache and cookies? this usually works.
If not, please contact Support for help.

    Best,

I am no longer the Community Manager for this version of TSO. Please send any question to BB_Ravel.

I’ve had a number of problems on different sites in the last few weeks with regards to primarily Firefox + flash but also IE + flash. I found all my problems went away after I uninstalled both IE and Firefox Flash installs that were the latest and then installed Flash 10.3 instead.

You may wish to consider trying 10.3 as well and see if it makes a difference.

To get an archived version of flash go here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/...-versions.html

Then scroll down a bit and try downloading this version:
    (Released 6/08/2012) Flash Player 10.3.183.20 (65.7 MB)

In this Zip file you want the /10.3.183.20/ folder not the debug one.

Then for Firefox installer you want to run this file:
    flashplayer10_3r183_20_win.exe

    And this one for IE:
    flashplayer10_3r183_20_winax.exe

I found this older version much more stable then the new one that’s released at the moment. Though it’s probably good to point out that if this does get things working you are then using an old and probably security lacking version of flash now. So use with caution.

    Hope this helps.
A little less compensation, a little more action please
All this compensation ain't satisfactioning me
A little more content and a little less bugged
A little less inconvenient and a little more hugged
Re-do PvP so its actually PvP and bluebyte satisfy me.
    Satisfy me bluebyte.

Bah, still no joy. Looking at a local profile wipe or a complete rebuild now I think, they're about the only options I can see unless anyone has any other ideas?
