    [Event] Poetry Contest - Vote

    Dear Settlers,

After much debate, we have found the 5 finalists in the Poetry Contest !

Please read all 5 poems before voting.
Votes end on Tuesday 31st of July at noon.

    AmarilloMike

    General Stronghelmet the hero,
    a final sector liberated.
    Wild Mary the foe,
    the bandits defeated.

A marching band on his mark,
    a grand party for all.
    The true tale is dark,
    remember those who fall.

    We soldier on,
    wave after wave.
    Comrades gone,
    a horse's path we pave.

    We pile forwards,
    swords a-flailing.
    The general's stalwarts
    throw bronze a-hailing.

    We recruits,
    we band of brothers,
    won't give a hoot
    or fear of others.

    We form our legend,
    written by ourself.
    Fought to the end
    to our dying health.

    Remember us.

    BadMonkey

I look upon this island green
and wonder how it's buffed and preened
to see it glow, it makes me smile
But only if for a short while
I buff again and scream and shout
and then another mine runs out!

then night time fall's on my green isle
I go to sleep if for a while
I wake to find it in a mess
and then I try to do my best
to build it up for one more day
with fields of wheat and stone I pray

I trade and swap with guild and and friend
to boost this island to thee end
to build and improve and grow each place
step by step to win the race

I build the troops each time this day
to fight again and win the pay
so with this poem I say to you
do what you can to keep it true

And if you lose on the battle ground
and then your troops don't make a sound
just think of this and you will see
it all leads up to PvP

    Gammelbold

I looked and thought to myself, what an island,
And to myself i said, I'm such a lucky man.
    My buildings are plenty,
    I have more then twenty.

On the table in my house I had some Pie,
Blastet bloody thieves stole it, i thought why?!?!?
On war i prepared, military units sang songs,
They marched in formation, ”for war we long”

Over the hills we marched, preparing for battle,
My troops were hungry we ate some beef cattle.
Kegs of brew they consumed, god they were drunk,
A man went for a pee but stepped on a skunk.

We all laughed and away we ran,
We could not believe the stench of but 1 man.
An officer had an idea to get our revenge,
They stole my pie, that we will avenge!

A thousand skunks we caught, this will be glorious,
With skunks in war we went, we were victorious.
The enemy ran with their tail between their legs,
We laughed and ate their Bacon, Ham and Eggs.

    Tumaini

In a blossoming meadow past marches and mires,
lies a village still small in a bosom of grass,
the trees gently whisper as something transpires,
some settlers are wond'ring what may come to pass.

They rely on their mayor to do all the planning,
to give them vocations and something to do,
some of them sleep in the barracks they're manning,
hopefully one day the wars will be through.

What future is held for this village in dawning,
what seeds lie in wait for to sprout and grow?
Perhaps we should ask the new settler still yawning,
still cautiously peering from under the awning,
for is there an answer I do it not know.

    Zelkina

    Zelkina sat upon the throne,
A crown of bone upon her head
Through blackened lips, in malicious tones,
She screamed, “Bring me Mary’s head!”

The Captain trembled on his knees,
With bowed head said it would be done
And hastened from the mayoral home
As fast as his feet would let him run.

Next morn the proud army marched
    Through the smelters streets,
    Through the wells near homes
    Where loved ones weep
Knowing the slim chance of coming home.

Up through the farms, past mines of coal and iron
    Wearily the captain marched.
Until at last on the horizon
Wild Mary’s bandit camp was perched.

“Take no prisoner, give no quarter!”
    The Captain yelled aloud.
“And a thousand gold for the lucky man
Who brings Wild Mary’s head to the ground!”

The battle was fierce, and blood ran free
    From pointed sword and arrow.
    Charging forth the Captain fought,
His face determined, his eyes narrow.

The end was swift, one single blow
Her head lay at his feet.
“Let them go,” he called, watching,
As remaining bandits beat a hasty retreat.

“You have done well,” Zelkina smiled.
As she glanced at Mary’s head.
“Go now, Captain, feed your men.
And take your time to bury your dead.”

North of the town, a flowered field stands
In memory to those brave men
Who lost their lives fighting that day
Bringing peace to all their kin.

    Good luck!
