Q: Can i retreat my general?
A: If your general is still moving on the map then yes you can. Click on the garrison of the general and click the Retreat button.

If I direct a general to attack and he is redirected......He defeats the new camp and then proceeds to the original target. Can I then retreat or is the original target now fixed?

    Hi Jim-Canuck,

You can retreat your general at any point. However, when your general is engaged in combat you cannot retreat him.

The blue answer would be clearer if the word "still" was removed. Because you can retreat your general when he is moving on the map. Although that is still not completely correct, because you can not retreat your general if he is on the way back or already retreating (not that is would be useful then, but still)
