I for one wouldnt mind the roads and carriers in TSO. Building a strategy around the transportation of goods was part of the fun, wasnt it?
What would you see from the old games in TSO?
(Still playing Settlers IV from time to time).

Teach a settler how to fish, and you will have to rebuild his pond for a life time...
Nice screenie. Remember it well.
So much to do every day, and the more flags, the quicker the transportation.

Yep, I remember it, in fact I still have it installed on another computer..(How sad is that )...I also still play TS Heritage of Kings (gold edition) and TS Rise of an empire.
Oh happy days...lol
Now I am feeling old...
I cannot believe how 'simple' it looks in comparison to today's versions. I have many fond memories of this
Best Settlers ever. The random seeding alone gave you such a variety of maps to do, I've still got written down somewhere the seed values for a couple of "Waterworlds", where the rowboats make a fantastic rapid transport system.
Definitely the Settlers version with the best feeling, I think - the music, the graphic, the 'yup' and 'yippie', not sure if I or II was better overall, but I never liked the later ones.
One fun thing with the original Settlers was a bug that allowed you to connect your road to the road of another kingdom and they would send settlers and goods to you (and you to them if you weren't careful). Also, the cooperative two-player mode was great!
those were many happy hours spend. constantly breaking down buildings to find better pathways and placements..
kinda miss that part of the game..
The original concept is better than this one - are there any versions that work on Windows 7 ?
