    Hello guys, name is Roy AKA Winterburn,

    I would hereby share with you my thoughts and calculations about the current gold production in TSO, ive been in the game for quite some time now and i never really came around to the gold production as i didnt think it was that appealing and i just coudnt get the materials together to get it running.

    After i ran alot of other productions and went into the trading aspect of the game i finally had enough excessive materials to start thinking about it and after downrating it for the entire time i finally came around to doing some math about it, the following is what i think is correct.

    I am not taking in consideration the materials going into actually building the chains, upgrading them etc, but as you might find out its all quite insignificant in the long run.

    Given the fact im buying refills for 150gc each, this is based according to that. What im trying to find out is if i will break even with 500 gold ore deposits ones i reproduce them into coins, or if it is profitable, orrr that im basically losing income, and if so, how much?

    English isnt my langauge so i hope everyone taking the time to read this that i can make myself clear.

    Ok here we go,

    Abbrifications: GO = Gold ore, C = Coal, GB = Gold Bars, GC = Gold coins.
    P = Productions.

    * Gold refill deposit: 500 gold ore = 500 Gold Ore.

    Level 1 Smelter Unbuffed: 2 GO + 8 C = 1 GB.
    Level 1 Coinage Unbuffed: 4 GB = 1 GC

    Math Smelter lvl1: 500GO : 2 = 250P x 1 = 250GB.
    Math Coinage lvl1: 250GB : 4 = 62,5P x 1 = 62,5GC.
    Math Smelter lvl1 Buffed: 500GO : 2 = 250P x 2 = 500GB.
    Math Coinage lvl1 Buffed: 500GB : 4 = 125P x 2 = 250GC.

    That would mean 100GC profit, 250GC-150GC refill = 100GC.

    Now as everyone knows buffing will double your production without increasing it needs, you should always buff your chains which you are in need off, now taken that gold production is the highest and hardest chain to maintain it is something you should always have buffed or else it will mean severe losses in profit.

    I was doing these calculations and i needed someone to varify them so i asked li_lon, and he came with something i did NOT take in consideration as alot of people do. i thought buffing a goldmine would just mean it would produce faster, but in fact it acts like it does on buildings it doubles the income and doesnt make it faster.

    A 500 goldrefill actually is 1000 gold ore when you keep the mine consistantly buffed, this changes things alot. take note that the level of the mine doesnt matter it doesnt increase the amount just how fast you gain the gold ore at. ( lvl1 mine 500GO:1=500px2(buffed)=1000., lvl2 mine 500GO:2=250px4(buffed)=1000, 500GO:3=166,6666666666667Px6(buffed)=1000 etc )

    * Gold Refill Deposit: 500 Gold ore = 1000 Gold Ore.

    Level 1 Smelter Unbuffed: 2 GO + 8 C = 1 GB.
    Level 1 Coinage Unbuffed: 4 GB = 1 GC

    Math Smelter lvl1: 1000GO : 2 = 500P x 1 = 500GB.
    Math Coinage lvl1: 500GB : 4 = 125P x 1 = 125GC.
    Math Smelter lvl1 Buffed: 1000GO : 2 = 500P x 2 = 1000GB.
    Math Coinage lvl1 Buffed: 1000GB : 4 = 250P x 2 = 500GC.

    That would mean 350GC profit, 500GC - 150GC refill = 350GC.

    So what we've learned is no matter what production you have running, as long as you keep it buffed you will recieve profit.
    as far as coal goes, every production will take 8 coal for the smelter, so doing the math on that seperately: 500P x 8C = 4000C is needed to rework 1000GO. 4000 : 400 = 10, so you will need 10 stacks of coal to have it running, u can either produce that yourself or buy that. now coal prices might vairy quite a bit and they drop as time goes by, but i can safely say that we will still have enough profit for the expense of coal. and the price per 1000GO will never be more then 4000coal.

    JUST KEEP THE ENTIRE CHAIN BUFFED, OR PAUSED.

    Let me make a summary about all the other levels of Smelters and Coinages:
    As we keep them buffed ill spare you with the calculations on the unbuffed chain.
    the following are based on buffed mines meaning 1000ore farmed.


    Level 2 Smelter Unbuffed: 4 GO + 16 C = 2 GB.
    Level 2 Coinage Unbuffed: 8 GB = 2 GC.
    Level 2 Smelter Buffed: 4 GO + 16 C = 4 GB.
    Level 2 Coinage Buffed: 8 GB = 4 GC.

    Buffed: 1000GO : 4 = 250P x 4 = 1000GB : 8 = 125P x 4 = 500GC.
    Coal : 250P x 16 = 4000c : 400 = 10 stacks of coal.

    Level 3 Smelter Unbuffed: 6 GO + 24 C = 3 GB.
    Level 3 Coinage Unbuffed: 12 GB = 3 GC.
    Level 3 Smelter Buffed: 6 GO + 24 C = 6 GB.
    Level 3 Coinage Buffed: 12 GB = 6 GC.

    Buffed: 1000GO : 6 = 166,667P x 6 = 1000GB : 12 = 83,33 x 6 = 500GC.
    Coal : 166,667p x 24C = 4000C : 400 = 10 stacks of coal.

    Level 4 Smelter Unbuffed: 8 GO + 32 C = 4 GB.
    Level 4 Coinage Unbuffed: 16 GB = 4 GC.
    Level 4 Smelter Buffed: 8 GO + 32 C = 8 GB.
    Level 4 Coinage Buffed: 16 GB = 8 GC.

    Buffed: 1000GO : 8 = 125P x 8 = 1000GB : 16 = 62,5 x 8 = 500GC.
    Coal : 125P x 32C = 4000C : 400 = 10 stacks of coal.

    Level 5 Smelter Unbuffed: 10 GO + 40 C = 5 GB.
    Level 5 Coinage Unbuffed: 20 GB = 5 GC.
    Level 5 Smelter Buffed: 10 GO + 40 C = 10 GB.
    Level 5 Coinage Buffed: 20 GB = 10 GC.

    Buffed: 1000GO : 10 = 100P x 10 = 1000GB : 20 = 50P x 10 = 500GC.
    Coal : 100p x 40c = 4000C : 400 = 10 stacks of coal.

    As you see the amount of Profit you make stays the same per 1000GO, yet you produce them faster,
    so u can buy parrots with your profit faster, and the cycle goes on.

    Keep in mind that the price of gems goes up the longer the server is alive. The server i play on the gems are more than 3 coins a piece. And i'm pretty sure it will only go up when the new trade goes live, because then everyone who does not use the trade channel will also be buying gem items.

    Even though if it did, you will still have profit imho.

    Besides, im on sandycove which is a full server, people will increase their cities, and will need the expert materials like granite and exo, aswell as gold for upgrades.
    the gold will increase in value, so will granite and exo, the other materials however will plummit. now taken the argument of gems/gold ratio, even if it does increase you will still maintain a steady income of profit. the higher your production, the faster.

    75 x 3 = 225 - 500 = 275 profit.

    150gc for 500 refill,
    is 1400-1400-1500 lets say 12 stacks of 10gc max value, including making it lvl 2.
    Total materials valus = 120gc?

    why not build the mine again?

    120gc vs 150gc = -20%

    some thoughs,
    mmm,
    mines= 300ore vs 500ore refill. (+50%)
    secondly, you could save time from the geologist.

    Other than that, it is almost a tie, right?

    It is a lot slower to rebuild mines. You can only have a max of 8 up (which you can't even have up all the time), so even 2 mines that you refill gives you more ore per day.

    Hey Deorum,

    Building the mine, and not upgrading it will give you 1 ore per 12min ( taking my own traveltime ).
    12 min x 300 Productions = 3600 Minutes, or 60 hours.

    Or ofcourse doubled if you will have it run buffed.
    So lets say 600 ore in 60 hours, thats 2,5 days.

    So technically it can be done if you want that slow of an income.
    Ofcourse you can upgrade it but every single tool you put into the upgrades - because you wont refill them, will be gone.
    As you stated the cost of the resources still go under the refill.

    im buying 400 marble for 10gc, 1400:400 = 3,5 stack = 35gc.
    im buying 400 Hardwood for 10gc, 1400:400 = 3,5 stack = 35gc.
    im buying tools for 11gc, 1500:400 = 3,75 stack = 41,25gc.
    Thats a total of roughly 111gc.

    Hint: Buy regular planks, and convert them to HWP.
    im able of buying regular planks for 1gc at times, stack them up,
    250P is 50HWP, so 400HWP = 2000P : 400 = 5 stacks x 1gc = 5gc per stack of HWP.
    Note: same goes for stone, just set the trade up at every moment you can and you might just stockpile it up nicely.
    and so that does mean you can even make the tools yourself.

    So yes it would work, but i just wont wait that long, and i am running lvl 5 mines.
    Btw my thread was about the refills, because at some point you will upgrade them, and want to have a faster production line,
    or else we all would have had no upgrades, its the point of the game. and you woudnt need the gold if you didnt upgrade

    But yes, it works.

    of course upgrading the chain is important. Faster speed is less buffs needed to process the whole stuff. Buffs = money, so better profit at higher levels.
