Cool Make a gem voucher available in the gem shop

A lot of people want to buy/trade gems- most of the gems traded will have been bought by a player.

At this time you can only buy some gem items which can be gifted to you or traded directly though the new trade office but seeing the popularity of the gem vouchers it seems logical that this feature be implemented and should cost limited developer time to do it as well

To avoid abuse of this and/or account smurfing there should be some fee in it or penalty to it like you can buy a 100 gem voucher in the gemshop for 125 gems

Of course it would be better if you could buy gem vouchers (similar to sms vouchers) which can be redeemed in all countries (unlike the sms vouchers)

And best would be to have both options )

seems a bit messy, they could just make gems work the same as normal in game items like wood and coins, they could be traded between players and through the trade office then.

I don't think that's what they are after though, it makes more sense for the players to be forced to buy them and for spare gems to sit unused if they want to keep making money from them.

gift fixes that already- just limited in items but noble deeds, silos watermills jolly geo and refills can already be gifted in game so will ensure that you can use all spare gems if you so chose and give em away. Some items cant be gifted- because they are limited in number you can buy for your island (and hence logical they can not be gifted as then this restriction disappears)

However - you have 3 choices to get these items:
    1) Save up leveling rewards and weekly rewards
    2) Buy gem vouchers/sms vouchers- but they are limited due to starter pack not being made anymore and sms vouchers working in only a few countries
    3) Buy gems

Lets be clear about this- option 2 and option 3 both bring money to BB, so they should have no preference for this except from some gaming point of view which i cant work out (something like i you do not buy your own gems you deserve to struggle, we cant have you become too powerfull compared to people that pay- which in my opinion limits gemsales for them as there is less of a market for gem sellers to sell stuff to/lowe price so more of a barrier for people to decide to sell gem items compared to a voucher. Many a person bought voucher packed starter packages just to sell em on because of the better conversionrate they got from the players (typically 1 to 2 gold more per gem than a gifted item) and in the end, there is a bigger market out there for gem vouchers than for gem gifted items.

So having gem vouchers available in (in game or out of game) shops will mean more gems being sold so more money for BB and more gem vouchers being traded in game by people who wll buy the vouchers but not the gems for cash (lots have wants on their wishlist like endless coppermines, extra veteran general etc which they value enough to get in game, but not enough to get for real life cash and plenty of others that are willing to pay real life cash for in game gold coin (the legit version, by selling gem bought items)

I do not fear a lot for a secondary market for gold coin in game, the game just isn't worth the effort for people that do that/lacks the mechanics to make this an easy thing- although it probably happens on a small scale- but i do see a missed opportunity by limiting the possibility of gifting gems/gem vouchers in game and/or gifting gems from the shop (even at a less than 1 to 1 ration, this will work for many due to the far better conversion rates of voucher to gold coins)

The most foolproof solution would be selling vouchers that give an in game "gem voucher" that you can use on your mayor house or accept as an in game mail (some form of tradability through the Trade office) to ensure both safety for players and only cash bought gems being tradable
