Firefox/SeaMonkey *much* slower than other browers?

    Hey,

I first tried the game out under Firefox, and found the game to be very slow in general.

I tried it out under SeaMonkey, and got the same results. Then tried out IE 9, Chrome and Opera, and the game was 5x as reactive.

By slow I don't mean lag and such, I mean, that it would always take up to a second to open, say, the build menu. On the other browsers, the build menu came up immediately. Specifically I mean the UI was slow to react to user input.

All 5 browsers are up to date (except IE9, cause... well...), and all use the same, up to date version of Flash.

Firefox is my default browser, so cache and addons might be an issue, however SeaMonkey (also Mozilla based) suffers the same problems, and it's a fresh install.

IE, Chrome and Opera all use more memory and more CPU power when running the game (no other windows open).

    Any advice welcome

    hrrmpff... found out why:

And since Firefox is my default browser, I don't want to turn of any security features.

Here's how to turn OFF Protected Mode in Firefox / SeaMonkey. But beware the risks!!!

So, I suppose... if you're gonna play this game, just download Chrome or Opera to run it, since I'm pretty sure you can trust Flash content from Blue Byte / Ubisoft.

However, I don't recommend disabling protected mode under Firefox, especially if it's your default browser. The internet is filled with malicious Flash applications, and Firefox is the only browser than *can* protect you from them!

Question remains tho, can't we run Flash independently of a browser? All Flash needs is a login/password, right?

Wouldn't it be easy enough to make a tiny launcher app with super simple Flash container?

I have always used FF for the game,I heard players talking about Waterfox, which is the 64 bit version of FF,have to admit the games runs a lot smoother and faster using WF than it did with FF and less crashes

One thing I have noticed, in my... 4-5 months of playing TSO; through the many updates we've had, problems have arrisen for every different browser except IE. I've found Chrome the most reliable so far, but since last update, now uses 150% the memory it used to (which is still not much for Chrome which i a low memory use browser).

So basically: The best browser to use now, may not be the best after next update... just be ready to addapt, or use the ever so popular IE...

This is a question to which there is no right answer. We all have different system set ups, so the right answer for one person will not be the right answer for someone else. For example I prefer Chrome on this PC for running the game. On my other PC Chrome will not even load the game.
