If there is only one person with the ability to make announcements something is seriously broken. That shouldn't be the problem though, there are other Admins and it's not unreasonable (for regular players and the Mods themselves) to expect Mods to be kept informed of certain things, it would certainly ease a lot of tension all round if this were the case.

There is still no official announcement so while it seems likely this is the end of the Xmas Quests... we don't know.

You said it yourself "Chat moderator." Too many people take what they say as fact, the simple fact is they are "CHAT" Moderators, meaning they "MODERATE" chat. They are not BB devs. It always makes me giggle when I hear of people who call for a MOD in help and ask a tech related question (The Nephew sits there giggling away so I get told lots by him)

there should simply be a protocol in place where technical support notify of outages prior to the event (unless of course with a system crash), if it required that someone with the department that runs the maintenance be given access to make announcements, then surely that is doable to overcome a forum mod being unavailable due to holidays /sick leave etc.
I would expect programmers are capable of making timed announcements so they can release information of planned outages even if they are on holidays.

& to people saying shut up complaining that this is a beta version, the point of a beta is to air out problems for the commercial release...this is clearly a problem albeit primarily a communication error rather than a programming error.

No announcement of what is probably the end of x-mas maintenence. Why not let people plan their moves leading up to a maintenence? The players would prefer it that way. Please let us know in the future.

It could have been a security issue actually, like hackers... Giving them no time to announce. I wouldn't put it below them covering it up saying it's some kind of normal maintenance instead.

Okay wading into this thread, I've looked an looked. An usually I only hear about maintenance through threads like this.

Is there a place I can look, from time to time, on any maintenance info coming down the line? Is there a sticky somewhere I'm not seeing?
