I would like to suggest an option to be able to choose the default global chat channel that you arrive in when The Settlers loads. Currently there are a range of chat channels in other languages, but the default for everyone is global-1: English. It is rather confusing for new players turning up in global-1, asking something in another language and then being told 'English only'. It can be difficult to redirect them, if they don't understand people saying 'Go to /j global-x' in English, and technically very difficult to direct them in another language when we are supposed to be talking in English and we risk getting a chat ban for using other languages. Not surprisingly, some of them get confused and angry, possibly get chat bans and maybe leave the game.
I feel that this could be solved via an option at registration to choose the global chat language that you want to use. It could also be very useful to have a 'no chat' option for younger players, since the best efforts of the Mods do not prevent the chat from straying away from Pegi 7 language. As a parent, I have to be responsible for my children if they post in chat, so currently I do not wish them to play The Settlers because I cannot lock the chat away, and I often feel it is not appropriate for them to view.
