[Guide] A Walkthrough of Early Quests

I hang out in the help channel a lot but am often disheartened by new players asking the same questions over and over. So I started an account on Sandycove and took pictures of literally everything and I'm now going to attempt to walk you through those tricky early quests. This is my first ever guide, so please be gentle with me.

So first of all, let's familiarise ourselves with the game screen.

QUEST CHAIN 1 - PINEWOOD PLANK PRODUCTION

You already have your first quest, so go ahead and click on the quest book to view it.

All you need to do here is click on the building menu and select the pinewood cutter, then place one on your island.

IMPORTANT: I am not going to show you optimum building placements but I have placed the pinewood cutter with a later quest in mind.

And lo, your first quest is complete and you will level up. Easy, huh?

Our next quest is to build a pinewood sawmill. This turns the trees that you cut into planks that you will use for building buildings. Again, I have placed this building with a later quest in mind.

Quest complete. Collect your reward. A new quest will pop up, The Mayor's House.

For this all you need to do is click on the Mayor's House and cycle through the 5 tabs at the bottom.

Another quest complete, another level gained. You're on fire!

The next quest is Replanting Trees. You must build foresters to replant the trees your cutters cut down.

I forgot to screenshot my placement so this is a clip from later on, basically showing you how to successfully complete an upcoming quest.

Once you've completed this quest you might find that some of the quests under 'Side quests' will start completing. Go ahead and collect the rewards for those.

    Continued in next post...

QUEST CHAIN 1 - PINEWOOD PLANK PRODUCTION (Cont.)

Our next quest looks a little more complicated but is, in fact, easy peasy.

So open the Economy Overview. Part 1 of 3 successfully completed! You then need to click on the 'Building Materials' tab on the left hand side, click on the planks at the top, and then click on the tree.

TIP: Everything you need to click will be flashing gold!

Quest complete. Next: Perfect Proportions. Build another cutter.

Quest complete. And you level up! Yay!

Now things start to get a little more complicated as another quest chain (Stone Production) has opened. For now we will ignore that and carry on with our pinewood.

As you can see, this is almost exactly the same as the quest we did a few steps back. So open your Economy Overview and click on the flashing gold bits. You also need to build two more foresters to complete this quest. Keep them close to your cutters and your Mayor's House.

Next up is Surplus Of Wood. Simply build another sawmill in front of your Mayor's House.

This quest is one that we get asked about over and over. If you have followed this guide and placed everything like so:

you will have already passed the majority of this quest. All you need to do is open the Economy Overview and select Pinewood Planks, which you've done previously and should therefore have no trouble with!

    MAKING PRODUCTION CHAINS PERFECT!

If you have not followed this guide and you are having difficulty with this quest, do not despair. In this instance '0 production' means 'make more than you use'. Simply place more foresters/cutters/sawmills until you are completely balanced in the Economy Overview (i.e. it's all green).

    Quest complete!

And, oh look, we've completed our first quest chain! Collect your bench and congratulate yourself on a job well done.

    Next up, Stone Production.

    Stone production

Now we turn our attention to that pesky second quest chain, Stone Production.

Our first quest is Own The Tavern.

Go ahead and place the tavern anywhere. It does not have to be close to the Mayor's House.

It takes around 10 minutes to build, but we can do some other stuff while we wait. Around about now you will get a quest, and a mail from your brother Theodore. You'll see an envelope appear next to your avatar when you have mail.

Open and read the mail, in which your brother, Theo, has sent you some resources. These will go into your star menu, visible under both the 'All' tab and the 'Resources' tab. You need to place these in your Mayor's House so they are added to your storage.

Open your star menu, click on the planks, then click on your Mayor's House. A notification will appear saying you've successfully added the resources to your store. Repeat with the stone and then the logs. Quest complete.

The next quest is Instant Build.

Now you may get all excited and think you can cut down that pesky 10 minute wait for your tavern to build, but sadly you cannot. This quest needs to be filled later on when you build a provision house. So we'll ignore it for now and move on to New Settlers.

Now we get to buy something with gems! Click on the Merchant/Gem shop. You'll see that everything is greyed out. This is to prevent you buying something you shouldn't as most gems given during the tutorial need to be spent on something specific. Click on 'Black Market' on the left hand side and you'll see you can buy a Foreign Settler Family.

Click on the family and then click Okay. They will be sent to your star menu, but might take a few seconds to appear. Once they do, click on them and then click on the Mayor's House to add them to your population.

To complete this quest, we need to open the population tooltip. To do this, simply hover your mouse over the picture of the settler in the top bar of your screen.

    Quest complete, collect your reward.

Around about now, your tavern should be finished building and that quest will also complete.

Claim your reward, and you will level up!

Our next quest is To Hire Specialists. We need buy a geologist from our tavern. As you can see in the screenshot, we have been given the coins to make this transaction.

Click on the tavern and open this interface.

Click on the geologist and he will be sent to your star menu. Quest completed.

    Continued here.
