The complete lack of trust is their own fault and the complete lack of information is also their own fault. They have handled problems extremely poorly in the past and they have repeatedly been very bad at giving out information. In order to restore some credibility and trust, they need to at least show that they care about us and take some responsibility for their faults. They were the ones who broke the event, not us. So if they want to earn our trust back, they need to actually show that they care about us. It's the not giving a damn about the players that's the problem. If they give us some more time as a compensation for the mess they created. People would be much more forgiving off their mistakes since they show that they care. Now they just ignored us, gave us little or no information and because of that, the event suffered.
A prime example of this is the halloween event where the pumpkins where handled extremely poor. The game is poorly coded so the last resource of any pool, be it a mine or a field does not actually count. Making a counter that counts to zero was apparently beyond the capabilities of the ones who made the game. For farms and mines, this is generally not a problem but it was quite a problem with the pumpkins since it was such a rare resource and missing out on those last pumpkins meant a rather large loss in resources. Furthermore, the extremely long production cycle revealed that all production is reset sometime each morning. Again, with a production time of minutes, this is not a big deal but when you have a production time of hours and need to time buffs for a rare resource, having the timer reset by several hours makes in close to impossible to time buffs. Specially when you are not entirely sure when in the morning this happens. No official replies were made and no apologies were given out. Had they just said they were sorry for the problems and given us 10 token pumpkins it would have been fine because it shows that they at least pretend to care about their players. Now they just ignored it which only leads to resentment.
So at this stage, it's not really about missing out on a couple of hundred gems. It's about credibility and their relations with their own player base. They need to show that they actually care about us and the easy thing is to either hand out some balloons, give us a couple of free percentage points or preferably, give us a couple of more days to complete the event.
