It does not seem economic to bother killing the last golem his requirements/consumption are huge and the return just 40 pumpkins am i missing something?

Yes, ten pumpkins ( Killing Golem 5 and onwards rewards with 50 pumpkins not 40 )
As he's stuck on a little island, just leave him alone if you do not want to spend any resources killing him. I think it would be fun if he was not killed by day two then he went stomping around all level 50's islands demolishing one building a day till they killed him, just give them something to do and stop them complaining about having full islands ( I'm only jealous really ) he he BB make him aim for the level 5 fairy tale castle first and watch those mice get clicking * gives a wicked witches cackle
