Unless things change I have bad news for those of you who, like me, have been ignoring these unless you happen on them. On the test server I am stuck on one of the quests in a chain. It wants me to give up a kettle. I don't have one as we had a reset for this round of testing and have spent 3 days looking in vain for one. I don't think it is a good idea to include collectibles especially rare ones in quest chains.
Just 1 kettle? I don't really see that as a problem. If you don't have something, there's always the trade office, and getting a single kettle there isn't all that expensive.
It's just like any other quest that might ask you to produce/give up some item you don't personally produce/have. You go and get it from other people.
There is a program by kpssoft tsofinditems that you can find using Google. Was working good yesterday, seems to be useless today. Anybody else used this.
Oh no. That program works well. Works good for Google Chrome users.
Here is how you do it.
1. For Google Chrome install the add-on that lets you take screen shots.
If you don't do this its OK you don't need it. its just makes it easier.
2. On Settlers zoom out as far as you can go. Zoom out to the max. This is important as the program works on it zoomed out to the max.
If you have a big monitor like mine you can get the whole island in.
3. Next take a screenshot of the map. If you have the Google Chrome Screenshot add-on this will be easy. Otherwise use whatever program you have that takes screenshots to take a screen shot.
4. Save your screenshot to the clipboard. (again easy-peasy with the Chrome add-on).
5. Open up his website: www . kpssoft . com / tsofinditems/
6. Paste there using Ctrl V.
7. The Settlers Island comes up on his web page.
8. Press the little button called 'Search Items'
9. The items get found. Those circled in black are certain. Others are a bit of a guess.
10. Can get about 80% using this method. Does not find hidden ones.
It works on the pixel colours of the collectibles.

there's something wrong with the bronze cauldrons. i've just started an adventure and there is no cauldron to find. i know they don't appear in every adventure but here's the problem. this is about the 8th adventure in a row that there has been no cauldrons to find. like i said i know they don't appear every time but 8 times on the trot! something's not right there.
That's the fun of random number generators. I had bronze cauldrons 5 or 6 times on the bounce. Also had exo wood as loot 6 times in a row but that's another issue.
