An un-train option for obsolete troop units

An "un-train" option in the barracks would be nice for units that are no longer required . example - i have recently reached level 48 and as a result i can now build cannoneers . I have alot of crossbowmen that are now not needed . It seems a waste to just "kill them off" . Please consider this as a new feature

Cannoneers and crossbowmen are needed for different things. I'm not sure that an 'untrain' option is needed, just keep an eye on what you do train.

i agree , but looking through the cannoneer adventure guides it seems that having 500 crossbowmen is a little overkill when i also like to keep a standard complement of 3k recruits and 1k cavs and having around 800 to 1k bowmen for the fairytale adventures .

I'm still not sure that an untrain option is necessary. It is possible to see when you are nearing a level up that gives you a new type of troops to train, and there are plenty of guides online that you can consult to see what is useful for both new and old adventures to plan ahead. If you have made too many of one type of troops, then they can be reduced through natural wastage in adventures, and also through sending some against camps where they will suffer high losses.

Training the right amount of troops is just as much a part of the game as balancing your economy and making sure that you make the right amount of resources. If you get it wrong, you learn to do it better next time.

I'd just send the excess to their deaths in the next adventure. The only time I felt compelled to do a little extra culling was when I first moved to Elites, and my army of regular Soldiers no longer seemed to need to be as big as it was.

They died valiantly though, saving the loss of quite a few other troops as they went.

Yes, would be nice to have that.
    Something like a retirement option.
Or a re-train option, so you can convert bowman into cannoneers ??
For a cheaper price than settlers to Cannoneers etc ??

A career change option -- would be nice to have that to

This is wrong. There are places that xbows are more effective than cannons because they are faster.

yes i agree , but i do not want the feature to remove all xbow units ...... just reduce numbers and get some resources back to put to better use in other units (cannoneers/recs , or any other units) .

The only common resources used by troops are idle settlers and brew, the weapons you supply them with would have to be broken down even further to be of use. The only way to do this would be to introduce a new building "The scrapyard" which could breakdown items to their components at cost. To be consistent it would also have to breakdown horses, this could be a way of making glue.
