There are already plenty of PvP games out there, already set up to do it, kludging this is never going to compete with those, any appeal it might have will very soon wane.
I've already seen another online 'builder' type of game get absolutely ruined when they introduced a Guild vs Guild map, people have left in their droves, those remaining won't even take part in it any more, and many profiles now warn off newcomers, it has been that devastating.
With this game in its current state, the damage that could be done by the developers is truly scary. Already, their reuse of maps has broken existing adventure maps as they still cannot get to grips with making changes that don't affect things globally. Creating a non-playable map out of a playable one has deleted the Landing Zones from the original, and going the opposite way has also had unwanted side-effects.
I do understand Nogbad but I am hopeful that this has been the reason why PVP is taking them over 2 years to develop. Huge mistakes have been made and some lovely clever players have left the game. I would still prefer not to beat them up before they make a mistake. The point is also that PVP can take several forms and just maybe their very best developer is working on it Many players joined the game believing it was going to have a PVP element and I think that promise should be carefully fulfilled in some way and I think its entirely feasible that it can be done without causing problems. There have been huge improvements in the game that do seem to get ignored.

A lot of false and premature speculation in this thread that will ruin the game or its all stalemate fighting filled with disconnects or flash lag. However someone here is on the track:

As for the units, why else is there a new barracks and weaponsmith being trialled on test if new unit types won't be available?

Mort, I get where you are coming from, but for the past 21 months, the basics of the game keep getting broken, and not repaired. I have no faith that the current development team are capable of even attempting this without a major stuff-up. Made even worse by the inability/unwillingness to read/act upon bug reports and feedback. Even just testing this has already had a knock-on effect to the Live game, ie: the towers no longer intercepting.
Don't know where these players got the idea from that this was, or is going to be, a pvP game. In fact, reading back through the suggestions in the past, most of these seemed to have come from players who didn't stick around very long. I can't emphasise enough, there are already many games out there geared up to do PvP, this really is never going to satisfy, it will always be a compromise, and the risk of breaking an original game really does not feel worth it. let the PvP fanatics play a PvP game, plenty to choose from, leave us more cerbreal types to keep one of the few untainted building games as it is.
    We love our new CM.

Maybe I have been watching too many SuperNanny TV programmes. Reward positive behaviour and ignore the bad and we might get somewhere Seriously though i don't think it gets us anywhere being continually negative about everything albeit comes from a good place. We love the game and we are frustrated but voicing it all the time is not going to get us anywhere.

When I started there was a developers diary mentioning pvp also our island's buildings had a non working repair facility and other indications of pvp (including more landing zones i think but not for the islanders use). It was in the developers diary for some time and has been mentioned recently.

Altogether now 'yippee we have a granite pit' thanks very much BB good job' and see what happens. Worth a try

Many of us are frustrated with coming across as constantly negatively but lets be clear..... We are still here so we must enjoy the game but we are tired of BB making broken promises. All we ask for is a little honestly. If people don't show their high level of frustration BB will just sit their patting themselves on the back and congratulate themselves on a good job.

I have asked before as have others - come on BB be open and honest with us about all the previous content mentioned in Dev Diary entries. If you are still working on it tell us so, if you have canned it as to hard or difficult let us know.

A brief summary isn't to much to ask and I strongly believe that many of us have paid for the right to be informed of what the future has in store. And when I say many of us I include those of us that have financially paid to keep this game going and every free to play player that has contributed the same by purchasing through the trade Office a gem bought product that has thereby created an income for BB.

Been ignoring the 'bad' for far too long.
The basics have got to work again first, pure and simple. Who is going to pay gems for an adventure you cannot land upon? There is absolutely no point in designing in something new if it means that breaks what has worked before.
The granite pit is a classic case of a designer reading into the feedback something that was never written in the first place. Time and again, we asked for the promised content to be put back into the game, that was the granite and titanium mines. Instead, all we got was yet another 'pretty' building with no thought as to how it would actually work. It doesn't take a genius to work out that this is a waste of gems, to keep it running takes valuable refills, and the whole thing could disappear in a puff of smoke if you just happen to get disconnected at the wrong time. That's assuming it doesn't delete itself from the game, as other items have.
"Rewarding bad behaviour" is not going to improve things. Having presumably read the feedback over that awful World Cup event, what kind of warped mind is now planning to ruin the upcoming Christmas event by repeating the same mistake? (We know it's coming, the minute they deleted the Landing Zones on the Xmas adv maps is a dead giveaway), and reintroducing the loathed golems for Halloween isn't going to improve matters, just another example that our feedback is not being read, so we are about to enter a period with 2 major events that will leave many with a nasty taste in their mouth.

The game started with many things the granite mines etc maybe once they are removed its not so easy to put them back. A new island that we can go to 'rather like an adventure' where we win it and then can build on it and that have granite mines is surely not so hard. I feel as frustrated as everyone else but I do not want BB to get fed up and give up.

Its a commercial enterprise and however good the basic game is if its not being played they will not continue investing in it. Its not just BB that reads the forum its all the new players and a lot are still joining but they are not staying and I do wonder if this forum puts them off . That said I do think there are new interesting things in the pipeline including a form of PVP. BB's biggest problem in my view is communication.

Edit: I was not saying 'reward bad behaviour' but when they behave well and they do, we just largely ignore it.
