why is it that my crossbowmen take hits even when there are melee troops in the garrison? Their 'cautious' ability states that they should only be attacked when all melee troops are gone, am I the only one who find's this annoying and misleading.

Some troops attack the weakest target which will be your crossbows
what's the point of them even having that ability then!

This will help you not lose crossbows
make's no difference to the point im making here krillin
It would definitely be helpful and easier for people pick up an understanding the combat system if the description for cautious units warned against enemy units with the attack weakest target skill
agreed or for it to actually mean what it sais
The combat system is predictable enough, I am glad there is small twerks like this that occur.
What you have overlooked, DavidSc, is that "cautious" and "attacks weakest" are totally incompatible skills. Either one of the other has to take primacy when the respective troops go up against each other.
Would you be complaining if "attacks weakest" didn't work against your xbows instead of "cautious" being the skill taking second fiddle in that situation? No, because then it would be in your favour. But it's just as "silly" as wht you're complaining about.
Toastkid is right, the game should warn you of this somewhere. But most people work it out long before they have xbows...
