When it comes to Gene pools and shallow ends they can be found at the bar drinking pina colada's

Those upgrades do get awfully pricey - I shudder to think what Mahogany planks would cost...
Sorry, but I've slept since then...

I can live with the upgrade costs. The requirement to have the corresponding building (or 2!) at level 5 is the thing that makes no sense.

never really bothered with the cost of anything if it saves license, as pointed out would be bothered about 2 buildings to 5 as a pre-requisite. That being said I can run 2 epic workyard and 2 exotic wood sawmills and still never make a dent in my stock of exotic wood due to the amount of adventures I do in a day.

I wouldn't mind further quests for the epic workyard it probably makes sense that an option to turn exotic wood into coal as a lot of people are going to have no use for exotic wood at some point and the price will crash, though this might be covered by Prov House converting them to Mahogany Planks. Still doesn't sit right that it can't fell trees of any description.

The epic forester is one of my favorite buildings that is a completly broken hardwood refill machine tho some people tend to use it for coal. It saves loads and loads of building licenses and space on your island. Hopefully there will be a new production options at the XL update to match the concept and keep it as valuable if not more. If the maghog plans would be included that would most likely be a waste as a prerequirement would be having one of thoose building at lvl 5 and you will most likely not need more than 1-2 of them to satisfy your entire production given that you also want to 3x-4x buff the particular building.

What i would do for extra space, have barely played the last 2 years but i guess i will test out the upcomming content patch.

I've said before I personally hate the look of this building , and won't have it on my island........however, in practical terms I'm coming round, and was planning to circumvent not having it on my island by building it on the new archipelago....but it seems I can't! Tried it on test and there appears to be a few spaces but it would not place......Back to hating it again it seems
Are we to be told of adventure changes or not? 1 Month on and still SNEAKY RB changes have not been mentioned

The buffs are cheap to make and it saves a few building license, it has the versatility to switch between the different sorts of planks if I'm running low. No pinewood or hardwood sawmills which saves 4-8 license, it can churn out a healthy amount of exotic wood planks.

The principal reason I'm happy though is coal, the stuff coming out in the new expansion is coal hungry and I get at least another 2-5 years use from it so the base cost of doing the quests seem to have paid for themselves.

Hmm, maybe time to have another think then. Can see point re long-term investment which makes it more acceptable.

I also used to think that is building was an ugly looking 'thing of questionable parentage' that wasn't worth the cost of the quest lines until a friend pointed out to me just how effective it is at manufacturing coal. (One fully upgraded epic yard with all three options used for converting pinewood to coal are more effective at it than 13 level 5 coking plants). So, I ended up getting rid of all my cokers and replacing them with two of these. The fact you can use them to turn excess hardwood logs into coal is also extremely useful and, as others have pointed out, it does a cracking job at churning out hardwood/exotic planks.

Yes... it is a long term investment... but one I feel was definitely worth it!

Just to put some new content into perspective:

Running 3 Platinum Smelters and 2 Platinum Weaponsmith (A good balance number to churn out a satisfactory amount of new Swordsmen and Mounted Swordsmen) uses around 3600 coal every 12hrs... at level 1. Bump those to level 5 and you are after 36,000 coal a day.

Might have to bite that bullet and get one for myself... was saving those beans for other things though... grrr
