Personally I have given up posting suggestions on how to improve this game and how to help retain an active player base due to previous responses from BB staff.

In November last year, Alpaca pretty much stated that no suggestions would be passed on to the development staff no matter how good the suggestion.
After that the thread was closed so that response could only be passed through PM which, due to ToS could then not be quoted back into the forums.

Why bother trying when that is the approach they use?

I had high hopes for Buff-Lists when I suggested them a year ago. Unfortunately, now I know that the developers will never learn of the idea even though it helps reduce lags and provides an additional aspect for generating gem-based revenue.

Tripi, I am afraid you might have misread the answer from my colleague so let me clear this up. I can assure you suggestions do make it to the dev team and I personally saw devs reading our forums and checking out the ideas you guys have.

As a sidenote, the more support from the community a suggestion gets (the more it's discussed and the more approval it gets, even if it's just a +1), the higher the chances it will get implemented. That is why it's very important for you guys to post in the forums as gathering feedback from chat is nowhere near as efficient.

How about getting a dev team that know what they are doing?
As it is now they just seem to ignore all bug reports (EVEN ON TESTSERVER).
25/11-14 , 23/02-16 .. The end is coming and it will look like this .

    Ehm..? That's not true?
Nothing of what most people have been suggesting for almost 2 years (PvP/Guild Wars, higher levels, ability to make more than 25 troops in barracks just a few examples of the most wanted stuff by the community and players) has yet been implemented - not even a word about it.

There is no way forward for this game, unless they give it a purpose.

I used to play every day for at least four or five hours and now I just log in to keep my gem pits ticking over, I've given up on sending out my geo's and explorers too. I've paid about £100 in to the game over the past two years but I wouldn't consider getting my wallet out again in the future and that's not just because I've got gem pits... It's mainly because I don't support the project any more, it is a dead horse that I can no longer be bothered to flog since I've reached lvl50.

Ask yourselves this: What, precisely, is the point in playing this game ?

If I log in and play for four hours a day, seven days a week I can run adventures to gain star coins and resources and passively produce resources from my map. I can then sell what I don't need, which is everything, on to other players in exchange for stuff that I do need, which is nothing... I cannot compare myself to other players, aside from visiting their map, so there is absolutely no in-built competitive element compelling me to log in and continue.

Let's say that for the next year I religiously log in every day and I just give away everything that I've produced since the last time I gave my trash away. When I reach the end of the year the difference that this will actually have made to me as a player is none... Nada, zip and a big fat zero.

If the core aim of the game is to accumulate material possessions, which it is, but the only reason to accumulate those possessions is to enhance your ability to accumulate more posessions then all we are, to use a little Star Trek analogy, are a bunch of Ferengi who are constantly chasing profit but we lack the simple ability to compare our own profit against the profit of others... That little flaw actually renders the entire exercise of acquisition completely pointless.

I'm on the brink of quitting now. Stupid updates that no one wants prioritised over bug fixes and day to day updates that would be a huge benefit to all players are just ignored month after month (year after year now even). It's growing tiresome to say the least.

Now I can't even adventure properly because the lootspotters are being dumped randomly all over the island so it's taking ages for people to get a kill now. I even completely forgot about it earlier, moved my general to where he could attack then got a phone call then went for lunch with him sitting where he should have been in the first place.

Every update that bring some rubbish money making building that I don't want (or wouldn't mind buying if gems weren't so idiotically priced) while ignoring features that would actually make general playing better just sap the will to play from me.

Half the formerly active people in my guild have gone semi active at best now.

I'll probably take a break as soon as I'm done with all started projects (some adv guides and guild related events).
I barely get myself to log on testserver and check, because what's the point when BB don't care about bug reports there...and then they decides to release some untested things - previous, production changes which they had to withdraw due to bugs...and now several modifications such as "Adjustments related to landing fields of generals on adventure maps" and "The mechanism for friend invite requests has been adjusted".
25/11-14 , 23/02-16 .. The end is coming and it will look like this .

This week I quit the guild I'd started (after already having turned it over to others some time ago, when my interest first stated to wane) and told the people I've been playing with for over 2 years that I was most likely done with the game.

I've enjoyed my time here, but there is nothing of interest to do anymore and as others have said, I just don't feel that any suggestion, discussion, etc. from the players has any impact on the developers.

We keep seeing items added that are nothing but gem sinks, changes made which appear to be nothing but time sinks, all the while the changes, suggestions, etc. that truly need to be made, never occur.

I've spent way more money on this game than I'd care to admit, but that time is over and I feel now that I'll just be checking in every now and then to see if anything has changed.

Having typed all of that makes me a little sad, but I don't see any other way to proceed. I have a real life (despite what some may think) and very limited (very, very limited) time to play games. I want to make sure that I'm using that time on the games that will bring me the most joy...and right now the Settlers Online isn't bringing any joy...

I hope to return to being a more active player at some point...but am not holding my breath on that...
