I've got this too - was offline when the buff was applied. Logged in to 7 and a bit hours left on buff. No quest. No eggs on island.
Going to try BenFranklin's solution above - will let you know if it works in an hour or so, when the buff is made!

Nobody else able to buff me while first buff still there. Support it is then...

i have had the quest not show before but still able to collect the eggs, on this occasion no eggs either.
also occurred with regular collectibles that no quest opened in book, and i just had to keep searching until the quest completed when all found, but i had no way of knowing if there was more to find or if the quest would complete given that it was missing.
seems to be a lot of bugs in this.
Shame the collectables arent just a random drop in adv loot. instead of all this clicking about.
a quick fix to all this would be to double the egg production buff to 20 eggs, and abandon the egg hunt buff on friends island
and just give 20 eggs compo per day (2x12hrs maximum buffing) of the problem to all players...unless they want to manually work out exact compo for every effected player
We are aware of this and you should let support know if your quest did not complete. A solution is being worked on.
