Entire progress vanished

Last week I started playing Anno Online, an other Ubisoft/Blue Byte game. To start playing, I used my U-play account I created last September when I started playing the Settlers Online. Tonight I was thinking lets visit my settlers again, I had been neglecting them the past 2 months or so.

When I logged in I had to go through the entire process of choosing an avatar, name,... at that time I just thought "mmmh... strange...". When the game started I only had the Mayor's house and the tutorial started all over again. My brain froze and only thing in my mind was [removed] My entire progress and achievements are gone, vanished... I only had to concur 3 last sectors of my island.

Why did I lose everything?
Can I get my progress back?

only thing I can think of is either you registered your original account via facebook and this time your u-play account and your now on a different server or somehow you've got 2 accounts registered through u-play and again your on a different server.

I think Bluesavanah is correct, since the account you are posting on was created May 3 00:12 uk time

Is it possible that your original account is in thesettlersonline.net and not here (.com)?

Having to register/choose avatar etc again screams 'different server' to me. Have you tried logging in to Sandycove or Northisle to see if your progress is there?

And now I feel really stupid!!!

It turned out to be a combo of what Bluesavanah, Durin_d and Jimmian have said.

I registered my original account through facebook, come to think of it I created my Uplay account when I started playing The Settlers 7.
Also my original account is on thesettlersonline.NL so a completely different server (Woestewoud).

Oh well, now I have another account with which I can start all over again and take a different approach.

My entire progress vanished. My old account "Timbo71" I had since 2011 has vanished. I am trying to get it back. I started this new account as "Boots69" but am about to give up. I miss all my stuff. I was playing the Christmas 2019 event then got a new laptop.

Good to hear that you found you old accounts
But if your new accounts are on the same server you need to contact support to have the new accounts deleted otherwise your risk perma bans for multiaccounting.
