    Farm optimalisation

In the following link you can see my setup for Farms:
    - farms x10 (9 level 4, 1 level 5
    - silo x1
    - wheat fields

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/m8m94tzve0...ation.PNG?dl=0

For the moment I have found it is the most optimal set up.
    It brings me 2370/12h

Im planing to by now 3x Improved silo. And here is my question to you.
Can anyone help me or advise what would be the most optimal setup for this ?

Obviously its each to their own as when you buy 3 Improved silos you will find their benefit depends upon where you place them as they have 3 times the production time but then the walking time from Storehouse to Workyard and Workyard to the Deposit area isn't any quicker so in effect you will get less than a X3 benefit.

Of course you will also have to ask yourself if you want to increase the amount of wheat production and therefore tear down some normal silos and have more farms or if you are happy with your wheat production and want to realise the space gained for other buildings. That question can only be answered by you as it depends upon your playing style and what your wheat consumption is or needs to be.......

If you want to increase wheat consumption the easiest way is to have more farms than fields and to make sure you have enough silos (normal or improved) so that none of the fields ever deplete or you rebuild often or use wheat fillers obtained from people that never use them. As an example I have a wheat production of 19,170 wheat every 12 hours (unbuffed) from 58 L6 farms and yet only have 3 wheat fields and they never deplete. It could be better optimised but it works for me.

If you do a search on the forum you will find lots of people have uploaded their own setups with pictures.

    Hi Fish,
    thanks for your reply.

I probably was not clear enough with my first post.
My current wheat production is OK for me. What I want is to completely reorganize my farms to add Improved silos and in the end have not less production as now.
My goal is to find balanced setup - wheat fields never deplete.

I also already looked for many setups around internet but none of them show setup with 10 or more farms.
Isnt it too much if I ask to see your setup ?

    Cheers,
    czezz

Hence my vague response mate. So if you don't want less production than now the easy answer is replace 3 silos with improved silos and then remove a few more silos till you balance. You will never be able to fully plan to have non depleting wheat fields until you have more silos so best to just consider if you want to delete a few fields. On the other hand you could place a packed wheat field in the middle area of your farms and encourage that one to be used most of the time by depleting the other fields. That way you could also place 3 Improved silos close to it and that way you may find that instead of farms going to 1 field each and you replacing lots of fields slowly you can just top that 1 field up with some fillers..... Just a thought.

    Here we go re mine...

On the other hand grouping all of your ten farms next to say 2 fields or 3 fields and again having the improved silos close you may even find that by getting a friend to friend buff those Improved silos occasionally you get non depleting fields. Worth a shot

Don't forget that 3 improved silos + 1 normal silo won't fill up your field fast enough to support 10 farms.
The 3 improved silos do have 3 times the production time of a normal silo, but travel time will mess this up.
The improved silo will have to walk 3 separate times, while the 3 farms will have a (partially) overlapping travel time.

To make it work you would have to minimize the travel time of your improved silo, so 20 seconds (improved silo next to storehouse and field in front of improved silo)
This will yield 831 wheat per 12 hours
To get a nearly balanced situation, your 3 farms would have to be placed in a way that their average travel time is 57 seconds (which isn't very efficient)
This will refill 830 wheat per 12 hours

In short, if you want you wheat fields to last forever without using buffs (and your farms efficient enough), then 3 lvl 5 improved silo's and 1 lvl 5 normal silo can only support 9 lvl 5 farms (and, just for the record, 1 level 2 farm)

As an example (10 level 5 farms, 3 improved silos, 1 normal silo):

The average production time (incl travel time) for the farms is 12:44 minute
    The silos will refill 2392 + 285 = 2677 wheat / 12 hours
The farms will consume 2820 wheat / 12 hours
As you can see the gap is 143 wheat / 12 hours (about 3 levels of farm more then supported)

Fexno explained it well. My personal take on it has you down to a loss of 45 wheat per 12 hours for each field in a "cluster". You can see my setup here: http://prntscr.com/4nof3j

Notice the space I left between clusters in order to control which storehouse/wheat field my farms use. I've stuffed 3k wheat fields in each cluster meaning I have to either refill them once a month (3000/(45*2) ~ 33 days) or have my improved silos buffed once in a while to make up for the loss.

My setup has the advantage of minimizing the footprint as I use no regular silo and I also use smaller clusters that can be placed more places on your island - currently I have five such clusters where you can see two of them in the link above.

Why would you want to harvest so much wheat?

So much? I'm getting over 38k every 12h.

I find if you have the storehouses full of wheat and are using less than you're making the fields last forever, but why have so many fields? If you want to save space use say 12 farms per field
