    Halloween Event Guide 2014

Welcome to this guide, I have written it to accompany the Halloween 2014 event, I hope in some small way it can assist you in making informed decisions on how you wish to prepare and tackle the upcoming event.

I would like to thank AlexNo999 who helped me collect the information from the test server and deliver it here to you.

I would also like to thank Fexno for supplying the explorer & mystery box statistics within the adventure section, They came from siedlertools.de, So credits to both parties.

    Start Date: 14th of October

Removal phase 1: 4th of November

Removal phase 2: 11th of November

I have written this guide based on my experiences on the test server, I have written it to the best of my ability but it may still contain errors.
Everything within this guide is the result of many hours of gameplay and extensive testing, It was either gathered by me personally or supplied by AlexNo999 of newfoundland.

Thank you too LadyNina, ViliusV, xxGurentai for adventure loots

    Tips

I have used "spoilers" throughout this guide to try and trim down the size of it.
    Spoiler

You must have the minimum level of 19 to be able to participate in the Quest chain & to be able to attack the Golems, You are able to use the Cemetery's from level 1.

    Cemetery's require no licence.

Cemetery's can not be refilled at all.

One of the best buffs requires you to be level 22 to create, The Werewolf buff, These are tradable and usable beneath this level though, They can only be used on the Cemetery's.

Once you have placed your Cemetery's they can not be moved, They will not return to your star menu if you demolish, So make sure you place them very carefully.

When you first log in upon the event activation, Please follow the quest chain, If you kill the Golem first it will not count.

You will be collecting Pumpkins in a number of ways, Cemetery's, Collectables (like you find herbs), Loot from adventures, Trading, Golems & Quests.

You must be level 16+ to be able to get Pumpkins spawn on your island.

Finding Pumpkins on your island or receiving them as adventure loot is random, They are not guaranteed spawns or loot.

Start collecting your Barrels, Grain Sacks and Leather now, To be able to buff the Noble Cemetery's using the Werewolf buffs from start to finish you will need 720 Barrels, 360 Grain sacks and 72 Leather.

If you wish to buff all Cemetery's using the Werewolf buff, That would be around 183 buffs, You would need 3660 Barrels, 1830 Grain sacks and 366 Leather.

Start to stock up on the key resource's now before prices inflate, Map Frags, Brew, Bronze Swords, Settlers, Copper ore/Iron ore/Titanium ore, Water, PWP, Fish and Simple paper. I would advise anyone reading this who is level 36 and above to stockpile Titanium ore, amount 11,800. It is also looking likely that a player level 36+ will need at least 40k Water.

Given the recent price rise on titanium ore, its looking a very unattractive return now.

Like previous Halloween events Explorers will play no part in finding Pumpkins.

Grout is available again and with it are two new buildings that are level 6 upgradable, They are, Bakeries and Mills.

This year we are defeating Golems using types of water, There are three different types Purified water, Enriched water and Holy water each type is usable on a different type of Golem.

Lower level water's do not affect higher level Golems.

The Golem has a 24 hour timer, On your map it is show as a percentage, If you click the percentage a box will pop up with a time till the next spawn.

Golems will spawn for the entire event length, How many you personally will receive will depend on how quickly you can defeat them and get that timer reset.

This year Golems are no longer a server wide event.

Again this year we may destroy our friends and guild mates Golems, Other then helping out a friend progress, There is no reward.

The adventures that drop Pumpkins are:
•Normal adventures: Invasion of the Nords, Wild Mary, Gunpowder
•Mini adventures: Sleepy reef, The sleeping volcano, Pirate life
•Co-op adventures: Buccaneer roundup, The siege, Raiding the raiders, Whirlwind, Lakeside treasure

    Newly added adventures
•The Nords, Stealing From The Rich, More Secluded Experiments, Return to the Bandit Nest
•Tomb Raiders, The Black Knights, Motherly Love
•The Clever Little Tailor, The Heroic Little Tailor, The Island Of The Pirates

    Cemetery's

There are 3 types of cemetery's, each type you may have 3 of (so 9 cemetery's in total) they are found in the Merchant, Halloween tab, these are:

I would place all the noble cemetery's on the fastest locations to a storehouse to maximise the use of any buffs used (six second locations being perfect), see below.

If we say pumpkins settle in price around 25 coins each (this price is just to demonstrate the costs/returns of buffs being used)

For the sake of working out what is cost efficient I am assuming you are swapping your buffs with friends (Rainbow excluded)

The production cycle of the fields are (1) (4) and (8) hours, To gain the effects of a buff, Technically you only need the buff to be active when the worker makes the deposit into the storehouse. That means if I wanted to use a Werewolf buff on a small field (8) hour production time, The best way for me to do this would be to pause production as one buff ends, wait until the next deposit is due (up to 8 hours later), Then buff, start the building production again.... I would then get 9 hours from that moment (buff swapped) equalling 2 cemetery cycles deposited into your stores, Once complete pause and wait.

    Rinse and repeat.

    Noble cemetery
    Spoiler
It holds 100 pumpkins with a 1 hour production cycle.

    100 pumpkins *3 cemetery's unbuffed = 300 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 7500 coin.
    100 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with Irma's = 600 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 15000 coin - buff cost (36 Irma's @ 4.2ea) 151 coin... profit 14849 coin.
    100 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with triple buffs = 900 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 22500 coin - buff cost (36 Badges @ 50ea) 1800 coin... profit 20700 coin.
    100 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 1200 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 30000 coin - buff cost (3 Rainbows** @ 1900ea) 5700 coin....profit 24300 coin.
    100 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 1200 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 30000 coin - buff cost (9 Stadium snacks @ 625ea) 5625 coin... profit 24375 coin.
    100 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 1200 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 30000 coin - buff cost (36 Werewolf @ 16ea) 576 coin.... profit 29424 coin.

** the rainbow buffs would be a few hours short rainbow buffs are 4 days, therefore 96 hours, cemetery's holds 100 hours worth + travel time..This could be made up with a werewolf or a trick or treat buff to cover the short fall both options are quite cheap and are quad buffs. I have not factored the Werewolf's/Trick or Treats into the buffing costs.

It is possible to quad buff these cemetery's using the Trick or Treat buffs for a fraction of the cost, The only issue with doing this is the buffs are only two hours long, This would make it very time demanding.

    Premium Buffing

    100 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with Irma's = 600 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 15000 coin - buff cost (30 Irma's @ 4.2ea) 126 coin... profit 14874 coin.
    100 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with triple buffs = 900 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 22500 coin - buff cost (30 Badges @ 50ea) 1500 coin... profit 21000 coin.
    100 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 1200 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 30000 coin - buff cost (6* Stadium snacks @ 625ea) 3750 coin... profit 26250 coin.
    100 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 1200 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 30000 coin - buff cost (30 Werewolf @ 16ea) 480 coin.... profit 29520 coin.

*This should leave you around 20-22 Pumpkins in each of the Cemetery's, Depending on your starting buff time/production pauses, I personally would finish it off with Werewolf or Trick or Treats to keep costs down. I have not factored the Werewolf's/Trick or Treats into the buffing costs.

    The Small & Common cemetery's

Because the production time's on these are so long, I believe expensive buffs are not worth considering. Small cheap buffs are the way forward with these, using a stop/start approach on the production to reduce the amount of buffs required.

    Common cemetery
    Spoiler
It holds 80 pumpkins with a 4 hour production cycle.

    80 pumpkins *3 cemetery's unbuffed = 240 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 6000 coins.
    80 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with Irma's = 480 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 12000 coins - buff cost (81 Irma's @ 4.2ea) 340 coin... profit 11660 coin.
    80 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with triple buffs = 720 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 18000 coin - buff cost (81 Badges @ 50ea) 4050 coin... profit 13950 coin.
    80 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 960 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 24000 coin - buff cost (9 Rainbows** @ 1900ea) 17100 coin... profit 6900 coin.
    80 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 960 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 24000 coin - buff cost (27 Stadium snacks @ 625ea) 16875 coin... profit 7125 coin.
    80 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 960 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 24000 coin - buff cost (81 Werewolf @ 16ea) 1296 coin... profit 22704 coin.

** 32 hours left over per cemetery, Shortfall could be made up with 1 Stadium or multiple Werewolf's (I have not priced this in)

    Premium Buffing

    80 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with Irma's = 480 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 15000 coin - buff cost (81 Irma's @ 4.2ea) Same as above.
    80 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with triple buffs = 720 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 18000 coin - buff cost (81 Badges @ 50ea) Same as above.
    80 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 960 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 24000 coin - buff cost (24 Stadium snacks @ 625ea) 15000 coin... profit 9000 coin.
    80 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 960 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 24000 coin - buff cost (81 Werewolf @ 16ea) Same as above.

    Small cemetery
    Spoiler
It holds 45 pumpkins with a 8 hour production cycle.

    45 pumpkins *3 cemetery's unbuffed = 135 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 3375 coins.
    45 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with Irma's = 270 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 6750 coins - buff cost (66 Irma's @ 4.2ea) 277 coin... profit 6473 coins.
    45 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with triple buffs = 405 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 10125 coin - buff cost (66 Badges @ 50ea) 3300 coin... profit 6825 coin.
    45 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 540 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 13500 coin - buff cost (12 Rainbows @ 1900ea) 22800 coin... profit -9300 coin.
    45 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 540 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 13500 coin - buff cost (27 Stadium snacks @ 625ea) 16875 coin... profit -3375 coin.
    45 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 540 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 13500 coin - buff cost (66 Werewolf @ 16ea) 1056 coin... profit 12444 coin.

    Premium Buffing

    45 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with Irma's = 270 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 6750 coin - buff cost (66 Irma's @ 4.2ea) Same as above.
    45 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with triple buffs = 405 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 10125 coin - buff cost (66 Badges @ 50ea) Same as above.
    45 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 540 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 13500 coin - buff cost (27 Stadium snacks @ 625ea) 16875 coin... profit -3375 coin.
    45 pumpkins *3 cemetery's with quad buffs = 540 pumpkins @ 25 coin = 13500 coin - buff cost (66 Werewolf @ 16ea) Same as above.

As you can see, long expensive buffs just don't cut it against the smaller cheaper buffs.

    Buffs to be considered

    Trick/Treat *4 - (2hour buff duration) premium - can not be swapped
    Werewolf *4 - (6 or 9 hour buff duration) premium - 9 hour 54 mins
Rainbow *4 - (4 days/96 hour buff duration) premium - can not be swapped
    Zombie *4 - (12 or 18 hour buff duration) premium - 19 hour 48 mins
    Stadium snack *4 - (24 or 36 hour buff duration) premium - 39 hours 36 mins
    Banshee *3 - (6 or 9 hour buff duration) premium - 9 hour 54 mins

    The Werewolf buff requires:

There is also the Banshee buff, To create one you need:

Both the buffs above take 10mins to craft in the Mayors house and require you to be level 22.

The Trick or Treat buffs require the following to make and can be found in the provision house:

    Treat:

    Trick:

You can only use Trick on friends/guild mates and you can only use Treat on yourself, so this will take cooperation.
Trick needs to be placed on a friends cemetery (this halts production) then that friend will buff his own cemetery with his own Treat buff giving it a *4, then vice versa.

maximum returns from all cemetery's combined, with and without buffs:

    unbuffed -- 675 pumpkins
    *2 buff -- 1350 pumpkins
    *3 buff -- 2025 pumpkins
    *4 buff -- 2700 pumpkins

    Adventures

The following list of 21 adventures will be the only adventures to drop pumpkins.

There are a few things we can do to prepare for the upcoming event, Stocking up on the Adventures or the Map Fragments to be able to buy them is a good idea, Creating settlers for our star menu and stocking up on brew and swords. For any high level players getting a few assassins for them tougher camps or rain of arrows for fast loot spots could pay off. Could it be worth saving up your premium days??? some things to think over.

For lower level players, Getting to that next available unit type could be vital.

Preparing your Barrack buffs ahead of time is recommended, Skunks from your mayors house will do just nicely!!

Unfortunately I believe all the adventures that are purchased with gems are not worth buying, unless you can pick them up in the To. You would get far more for your gems if you just bought the Pumpkin packages directly.

I have decided to link a guide from a friend of mine on Ares server. They have a large set of guides that cover many different generals. For any new players out there who believe they can not achieve much from the event, please take a peak as it does have the normal 200 generals listed.

Given how common buffs are these days, Almost everyone should be able to complete this Halloween Event using *4 buffs, That would yield:
    2700

A further 705 from the Quest chain if you destroy a Golem everyday, The event will be 21 days in length. That amount is if you are level 36 or higher.

These numbers do diminish for lower level players, As the Quest chain would yield lower rewards..

If you are between 19-25 for the entire event you will receive a total of 325 Pumpkins from the Quest chain, the event is 21 days in length. This is if you destroy a Golem everyday .

If you are between 26-35 for the entire event you will receive a total of 535 Pumpkins from the Quest chain, the event is 21 days in length. This is if you destroy a Golem everyday .

This leaves the returns from Collectables and Adventures, It is hard to gauge what this could do for you as an individual as we all have different real life demands. I would estimate people who play lightly but sensibly and are level 36 or above to attain around 4-5k pumpkins from the entire event, Heavy users sky's the limit.

Anything from 15/9 will be duplicated here, With the except of adventure pumpkins drops will go in to its appropriate section. Just to make it easier for returning players to find new information without having to scroll through everything.

The production cycle of the fields are (1) (4) and (8) hours , Within the buffing section I spoke about reducing the amount of buffs needed by using a stop/start approach. What I meant by this was, To gain the effects of a buff, Technically you only need the buff to be active when the worker makes the deposit into the storehouse.

Once you have placed your Cemetery's they can not be moved, They will not return to your star menu if you demolish them, So make sure you place them very carefully.

Given the recent price rise on titanium ore, its looking a very unattractive return now.

    Cemetery's require no licence

Cemetery's can not be refilled at all.

I have decided to link a guide from a friend of mine on Ares server. They have a large set of guides that cover many different generals. For any new players out there who believe they can not achieve much from the event, please take a peak as it does have the normal 200 generals listed.

    33min siege guide

Preparing your Barrack buffs ahead of time is recommended, Skunks from your mayors house will do just nicely!!

Given the recent price rise on titanium ore, its looking a very unattractive return now.

I have lowered the costs and rewards from quests/golems, this is due to the event being rather short.

    Excellent Brayarg, many thanks indeed

As I understand it, the testing has now closed which is a shame because I would have liked to test the following. Maybe someone {even you } has already done similar but I haven't found any related information.

For the very long production cycles such as the 8 hours + travel-time small cemetery what happens when it is buffed for less than a full cycle? And what is the effect if during a cycle the buff is refreshed but changes, e.g. from 2 to 3 times or vice-versa?

I can do a limited test myself using a crossbowsmith with a production cycle of 32 minutes plus travel-time and buffing with a 30-minute 2x platter, e.g. starting the buff just after the beginning of a cycle so that it expires before the cycle ends but guess there are probably better ways

Hello VVidi, Thank you and your most welcome.

It is a shame as I wasn't finished either, But we will have to make do

    In answer to your question:
I do believe its irrelevant what buff is on the fields between cycles, All that counts is what buff is applied at the exact moment the worker places the item into the storage facility.
    edit
Sorry had to run off there sharpish, That is actually a excellent question, Do you mind if I included that? Its very easy to overlook things because one takes them for granted

You have permanent permission to include anything from me

I ran that test with the Crossbowsmith and only one crossbow was produced - which concurs with your belief.

If this holds true for the Pumpkin cemeteries then I am sure you have realised all that would be required is a "Trick and Treat" delivered less than 2 hours before the Pumpkin is due to appear.

    Yes for sure,

I did kind of touch on that here

Because the production time's on these are so long, I believe expensive buffs are not worth considering. Small cheap buffs are the way forward with these, using a stop/start approach on the production to reduce the amount of buffs required.

But I wrongfully assumed all would play like this anyway. Your right it probably does need a more in-depth explanation... Ill add it to my list of tasks lol

Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes and a different perspective really help, thank you.
