    [Dev Diary] Easter Event 2015

The upcoming Easter 2015 Event, Stripy eggs, Achievement building and more

    Dear Settlers!
March 2015 will be a very eggciting period for your settlers.
On March 17th, the Easter Event will be activated worldwide!

    • Start: 17th of March 2015 around 09:00 GMT
    • Removal phase I: 7th of April 2015 around 09:00 BST
    • Removal phase II: 14th of April 2015 during maintenance

This year's event will introduce several new features and items.
Most importantly, a new event resource will be introduced:

    Stripy Easter eggs!

New content will also be added to the game this year. A few examples: more buildings can be upgraded to level 6, a new and exclusive Easter buff adventure, weekly Easter quests plus Easter 2015 Achievements and a special Achievement building (providing space for Settlers; the more progress in the event, the bigger the building).

    Let's take a closer look!

Stripy Easter eggs are the new Easter Event resource.
The following brief FAQ provides more information about the Easter 2015 event resource.

Additionally, a new Dev Blog will provide more insights on the new event resource.
It is still being prepared and it is planned to be published on the 16th or 17th of March.

    • What are Stripy Easter eggs?
Stripy eggs are this year's Easter event resource.
They are only usable in this year's Event and cannot be saved for later Easter events.
    • Can I use my old Easter eggs?
The former Easter event resource, "dotted" eggs, cannot be used in this year's event.
    • What happens to my old Easter eggs?
A special event shop will become available later this year, during which you can spend former Easter event eggs ("dotted" eggs).
    • Can I obtain limited items from 2014's Easter event again? Will the limit be raised?
There will be several items available for Stripy Easter eggs, among them the Master of Martial Arts.
The event shop from the Easter 2014 Event won't be available.
Former event ("dotted") eggs can be spent during a special event that will become available at a later time this year.
    • Can I still trade old ("dotted") Easter eggs?
Yes! You can sell and buy old ("dotted")Easter Eggs in the trade system.
    • Can I trade Stripy eggs?
Yes! Stripy Easter eggs are tradeable.
    • Will it be possible to exchange the former ("dotted") Easter eggs for Stripy eggs?
There is no such exchange planned.

During the Event, all players have the chance to gather Stripy Eggs (the new Easter Event resource).
Stripy eggs can be traded. There are several ways to get them:

    • Adventures:
All Adventures except Scenarios have a chance of providing Stripy eggs as loot.
    • Expeditions:
All Expeditions have a chance of providing Stripy eggs as loot.
There will be no islands with Stripy eggs as colony yield.
    • Collectibles:
Stripy eggs will spawn on the home island to be collected.
    • Explorers:
Stripy eggs can be found with each standard treasure (in addition to the regular search reward).
    • Shop:
There will be 2 packages with Stripy eggs available in the Shop.
    • Event Quest Chain:
Every 5 days, you will get One Easter Quest Chain (with 5 sub quests), that will offer Stripy eggs as reward.
    • Quests & Easter adventures:
The Event Quest Chains will hold quests for 2 adventures in which hidden Easter eggs have to be found.
There are 8 adventures in total, with max. 9 hidden eggs each.

When Removal Phase II kicks in, remaining Stripy eggs will be exchanged to coins.
Read more about this in the explanation of the > Removal phases <.

Please feel free to leave your feedback here.

    Happy Easter!

    Achievement building

An exclusive Easter 2015 Achievement building will be available. The building works like a residence building, providing space for settlers. Its level depends on the sum of achievement points gained from Easter 2015 event achievements.

Finishing Easter quests or playing Easter buff adventures are only two of many ways of collecting Easter achievement points.

    • Acquiring the building
The building will be available as a quest reward from the quest chain "For my most loyal egg hiders". The building will be an item in the Star Menu and can be placed on a free 3x3 spot. The building will be available after the Easter event 2015, independent of any achievements completed.

Update 16.03.2015: 3x3 refers to the amount of free Building Slots needed, including a pathway (shared with other buildings) around the building. Without that pathway, settlers wouldn't be able to get in or out of the building.
The building itself effectively occupies less than 3x3 spots.
    • Residence function:
The building works like a residence building providing space for settlers.

      → Level 1: 40 Settlers, Easter event 2015 Achievement points needed: 0

      → Level 2: 50 Settlers, Easter event 2015 Achievement points needed: 25

      → Level 3: 60 Settlers, Easter event 2015 Achievement points needed: 60

      → Level 4: 90 Settlers, Easter event 2015 Achievement points needed: 150

      → Level 5: 140 Settlers, Easter event 2015 Achievement points needed: 280

      → Level 6: 180 Settlers, Easter event 2015 Achievement points needed: 570

    • Upgrade conditions:
To upgrade the building's level, specific Easter 2015 achievement points have to be gathered.
Every time enough points are earned, an icon will indicate that the building can be upgraded.
The upgrade can be done without any additional cost.
    • Indestructible:
The building is indestructible. When destroyed, it will appear in the star menu.
It can be built again and upgraded to the original level again without additional cost.

The Easter 2015 event will be deactivated in 2 steps. As known from previous events, most of the features are not available any more in Removal Phase I. With Removal Phase II, all event parts (including the shop) will be deactivated.

Removal phase I: 7th of April 2015 around 09:00 AM BST

    • Easter Quests will be deactivated. Started Easter (sub-)quests can still be completed, but no new weekly quest will spawn afterwards.
    • The first spawn of Collectibles after Removal Phase I won't provide Stripy eggs any more
    • Explorers won't find Stripy eggs any more:
Searches that were started before Removal Phase I still have the chance to provide Stripy eggs
    • Adventure and Expedition loot won't include Stripy Eggs any more
    • The Easter design will be removed from the loading screen
    • The Event window will be deactivated
    • The Event shop will still be available

Removal phase II: 14th of April 2015 during maintenance

    • All started weekly Easter quests will be cancelled. All progress for unfinished quests will be lost.
    • The Event shop category will be deactivated
    • Stripy Eggs will be removed from the game and exchanged to Coins

With Removal Phase II, all Stripy eggs will be removed from the game and exchanged to Coins.

    • Every player will receive a message in the game
    • If there were Stripy eggs in the Mayor's house, they got exchanged to Coins.
These Coins will be attached to the message
    • In case there were no Stripy eggs left to exchange, the mail includes no Coins
    • Stripy Eggs in the Mayor's house will be automatically exchanged to Coins and sent via in-game mail
    • Stripy Eggs in the Star Menu will be exchanged to Coins and appear as Coin buffs in the Star menu
    • All running trade offers and requests will be removed from the trade.
The invested resources will be sent back attached to an in-game message
including Coins instead of Stripy eggs
    • Stripy Eggs as message attachment (e.g. from adventures or Explorer searches)
will be exchanged to Gold coins. The mail will remain unchanged but contain Coins instead of Stripy eggs.

    Dear Settlers,

The Easter Event 2015 "Removal Phase I" started on Tuesday morning. We received reports of running Easter Quests that suddenly disappeared, a 5th quest chain and other Easter Quest related issues.

After investigating these reports, we came to the conclusion that the removal script did not work as intended. To level the playing field and provide a balanced game state, all Easter quests, running or not, will be removed entirely for every player.

A short special maintenance will be conducted today, the 8th of April 2015, between 14:00 and 16:00 BST.

    Details

    • All Easter Quests will be deactivated
    • Players who have been active since the beginning of the Easter 2015 Event will receive 160 Stripy Eggs (one or two hours after the maintenance at the latest)
    • Players who unlocked at least one Easter 2015 Achievement will get one of the unfulfilled Easter Quest chain Achievements unlocked
    • Players who got the 4th Easter 2015 Quest Achievement unlocked will automatically get the Achievement "Easter Maniac" (Finish all four 2015 Easter Quest chains) unlocked
    • Players who already had all 4 Easter Quest chain Achievements unlocked won't notice anything (as there was no Achievement point loss due to a disappeared Easter Quest)

Removal Phase II: The Easter Event ends (Removal Phase II) completely with the maintenance next week (14th of April 2015). Remember that the shop category is only available until then. See more details in post #5.

We hope you had a fun and pleasant Easter time!
