Achievement Rewards are in addition to the big splash window you got when you hit L50. The 2500 gems are obtained at that point.
Hitting level 50 opens up the ability to get about 4000 - 4500 gems from hitting L50 and then the sub quests that also open up. Cant remember all of them but they are listed here http://www.settlersonlinewiki.eu/mission/main-quest/
