Yep. After the first free sector deed from the quest each formerly occupied area needs a new deed purchased with beanstalks. The 3 unoccupied islands need the Island Deeds bought with gems.

seriously , sector deed with beanstalk is a steal !
I had to sell an enormous amount of ressources to get magic beans, to built fairytale castle
and it won't produce stalks until lvl 5 AND it will use magic beans which I used up to buy the fairytale castle in the first place.

After using the free sector deed on sector one, i cleared all camps up to and including sector 4 and put my second deed on sector 4 skipping 2 & 3 as i am not able to get the resources from sector two yet.
how do I clear the first area on the archipelago

If you don't want to use beans/resources to get the stalks to access the sector deeds than just leave the archipelago alone.
