I have exhausted iron mines and sent ou geologist to find them. Several times they do not find anything and I have to send them several times.

To the best of my knowledge a geologist will always find a deposit if one is available. Have you checked carefully that there are no deposits that have been discovered but you haven't built a mine on yet?
Sorry, but I've slept since then...
Yes of course I have checked this. Finally the geologists find the deposit, but I have to send them out two or three times.
usually the mine needs to be depleted before it can be found (although coalmine usually can be found if it depletes between start of search and before end of seaerch- doesn;t seem to work with marble though) Maybe some testing on this can shed more light on the matter and maybe the mechanism needs to be made uniform acoss all deposits
Of course I checked that.
After sending the geologists up to three times the mines are finally found.
I've paid a lot of attention to the timing of the searches, and I think that copper/iron/coal/gold (e.g. all things that require a mine) can be searched for before they deplete and they will be found if they deplete before the geologist is finished. This doesn't work for stone or marble. For example for iron mines I often send my iron geologists out before bed and I will have deposits ready to build on in the morning even though nothing is depleted when I log off.

Works for Granite as well (which is great with a 2h 48m search time), I sent the Geo when the deposit is down to 64 and they come back around 5 minutes after the deposit depletes.
I haven't gotten to granite deposits yet but that's good to know. And thanks SmurfAsh for mentioning marble - I didn't think that worked. So stone for some strange reason is the only one you can't advance search? I suppose that really doesn't matter, the time frame is so short anyway.
