    It's in the dev diary.

So what is this Christmas Market, and how does it work? It can be placed anywhere on your island, where it can buff the output of all workyards in an area around it. The bonus it provides, as well as the area to which it covers, can be increased by upgrading & unlocking further buffs for the building. If placed correctly, the potential benefits are extremely lucrative! You also don't need to fret about fully upgrading it this year, as you'll be able to continue doing so in every future Christmas Event.

There is a world of imagination
Deep in the corners of your mind
    Where reality is an intruder
    And myth and legend thrive

You guys really do miss the point. > 'Popular' < was sarcasm + Olympic gold medals have nothing in common with this event scenario.

The worthless building is given FREE at the start of the event as part of the event and planning permision for upgrades are available only during the event.
Not a good idea if the event is badly run and there is no possible way to correct this.
The 2015 easter event was messed up by BB not getting their figures right at the start so they REDUCED the 'find' rate for the rest of the event.
Had they continued with a fair set of numbers for explorer finds this thread would not exist but due to devs not getting it right lots of players are stuck with a reminder of how poor events can be.
PVP was introduced not long before the event and taking part in that would have made it easier to gain full level for the building Myself and many others didn't take part in PVP and it was just about possible to gain full upgrade without PVP.
Since then ALL events are created to avoid the NEED to take part in PVP to gain full achievements.
Tokens now make it possible to upgrade all manner of residences but NOT the easter egg that is below par due to no fault of my own.

Lots more -1's no doubt from the olympic theorists LOL.

Surely it is at it's full potential as that is what it was given when it was introduced? If not happy with it then simply take it down if you have better use for the space.

No, it can go up another lvl to reach it's full potential as it was at the time, now with tokens available it could potentialy go even higher.
The Christmas Market has taken onboard the need for future upgrades of event buildings the difference is the CM was not the focus of the event rewards.

Footy events give a trophy as the main achievement reward, those are useless anyway. (more like Olympic Golds LOL, perhaps Olympics can reward contestants with a garden shed for taking part but without planning permission for a bigger shed unless they win, even if the organisers trip up most of the runners)

No it can´t.It was part of an event and it could only be upgraded during this event. As BB said at the beginning of the event. Tokens are a really bad example, you know. You can only upgrade living-room,which was not upgradeable before, with tokens.

You are right, the cm is a new approach, but even the cm is only upgradeable during the christmas event. But as BB said also in future christmas events.

Not understanding what points you're trying to make.

Well, perhaps if you had used a smiley or italics or something to potentially indicate you were using sarcasm then perhaps people might have read it as such.... just sayin'!

Anyway, you obviously don't approve of the sports analogy, so here's another one with direct correlations to the situation here:

Your favourite breakfast cereal runs an offer to promote their product. In this offer, they print tokens on each of the packs which you have to collect and send in before a closing date. 5 tokens gets you a free pack of cereal. 10 tokens gets you a limited edition spoon. 20 tokens gets you a limited edition bowl. You manage to collect 18 tokens before you have to send away to claim your prize. You send 10 in and claim the spoon. However, after the closing date you manage to find a couple of packets that still have the tokens on them in the shop, but that doesn't mean you can send them in and claim the bowl because the offer is now closed.

Like this analogy, Blue Byte ran an event to promote their product. During that event we had to collect a form of token, namely achievement points. Based on the number of achievement points we earned a prize. The promotion ran for a limited time, which has now long since expired and so the prizes that were on offer are no longer available. I have my prize and I am thankful for the opportunity I had to get it.
